Star of television, time, space and everything - it's Tom Baker's birthday today, so join with Kasterborous as we wish the grand old bonkers uncle of Doctor Who a very happy 75th birthday! I can't really add that much to everthing that has already been written about Tom.  The camera loves him, audiences love him, he has shattering presence and such an amazing voice. News: Outstanding Visual Effects Nomination

Posted: 20 Jan 2009 07:00 AM CST

The Cyberking has been nominated in the Visual Effects Society's annual list of awards - but the big surprise of The Next Doctor isn't the only thing to be nominated from Doctor Who... Alongside Iron Man, Hellboy 2 and even BBC One's Merlin, the major special effects work from The Next Doctor stands literally head and shoulders above much of it's competition, while the matte work from Silence in the Library (the amazing sky and landscape of the library world) has slightly stiffer...

Companion Chronicles - Season Three Update

Posted: 20 Jan 2009 03:20 AM CST

There has been a change to the running order for two upcoming Companion Chronicles. The Mahogany Murderers, in which Trevor Baxter and Christopher Benjamin reprise their roles of Victorian sleuths Professor Litefoot and Henry Gordon Jago, has been moved up one month to May 2009. Ferril's Folly, featuring Mary Tamm as the first incarnation of Romana, originally filled the May slot, but has been put back in the schedule until 2010.

"Ferril's Folly is a lovely story by Peter Anghelides," says producer David Richardson. "But it is set during the original Key to Time season and we felt that it clashed thematically with our current Peter Davison season."

Mary Tamm will return as Romana, however, in Stealers from Saiph, which is written by former Doctor Who books editor Nigel Robinson. That story will be released in June 2009, and brings the third season of The Companion Chronicles to an end.

With Russell T Davies meanwhile advocating the casting of major Hollywood star Catherine Zeta Jones meanwhile, Billie Piper reckons it's all a bit daft, it seems. "I don't think the Doctor should be a woman," she told Hello!...

Apparently Rachel Stevens (born rachel Steinetski)has been here before: “I got down to the last two when Billie Piper got it so I hope this time it’s...
