| Official Site Updates and Australia's Simulcast Posted: 25 Jun 2009 02:46 PM PDT Torchwood's Official Site has been revamped. The previous, spare website that only had a news section and an update section has been replaced with a plethora of new images, videos, and information, as well as the promise of more. This update also proudly sports the new trailer with the air date, which is a beautiful sight indeed. The new bio section has quite a few new faces in it as well as the old familiar ones. Be careful reading those if you want to avoid spoilers! Check it all out here. --- Also, Australia's air date is now listed on their official site as July 7-11. This means they're getting it about the same time as the UK due to time changes. So there will be a simulcast, just not one with the US. --- With all of this, the count down is on for Torchwood: Children of Earth. 10 days and counting... | ||

| News: Karen Gillan's Mum Loves Who Posted: 25 Jun 2009 08:20 AM PDT UK tabloid the Mirror - who have been issuing special mini editions of Doctor Who Adventures recently with some of the poorest online advertising copy on earth - featured some quotes from the latest DWA today as Karen Gillan revealed her mum is a Whovian! All of which makes light of Ms Gillan's fathers earlier comments ("it’s all a big secret")- they want to keep a lid on things so that Mrs Gillan doesn't descend on Cardiff with her camera ready for behind the scenes snaps for... | ||
| Posted: 25 Jun 2009 08:10 AM PDT He's certainly racking up the plaudits from his various co-stars and admirers, and this time Eleventh Doctor Who Matt Smith is given the thumbs up from European beauty and former Bond girl Eva Green (Vesper Lynd of Casino Royale). They star together in the continental flick Womb, whose plot concerns a grieving widow cloning her husband after he suddenly passes away. Directed by Hungarian Benedek Fliegauf, it is his first English-language feature and also features Hannah Murray who was at one... | ||
| I'll try to make this a good one... Posted: 25 Jun 2009 06:52 AM PDT I hate to have to follow the previous post, which contains pretty much the most exciting news Torchwood fans have heard in a long time. So, regardless of what I post, it will not be as awesome as the recently-confirmed air dates. Sorry. ![]() ********* First off, Torchwood Magazine #15 was released today in the UK. The issue is available with either regular or 'collectible' covers, the latter of which features a tribute to the Rift War comic strip. The content of both editions is the same inside, though, with exclusive interviews, photos, and spoiler-ific articles in their countdown to CoE. More details on their site here. ********* John Barrowman is interviewed in the latest issue of Radio Times, speaking about the three upcoming Torchwood audio dramas. "Tardis And Torchwood Treasures" has excerpts from the article, including another reference to Captain Jack and supermarkets. Ha. ********* And just to check up on Torchwood's departed medical team... (Get it? "Check up"? Because they're doctors?! I'll stop now.) Burn Gorman, who is currently playing the villainous Bill Sikes in the West End hit musical Oliver!, has plenty to sing about: due to record-breaking ticket sales, the production has been extended for another full year, until February 2011. And good news for Freema Agyeman, who turned down more Who-related gigs for a leading role in Law & Order: UK. Although fans had feared the worst, ITV has just renewed the show for a second full 13-episode series. (And for those of us still waiting with bated breath for the second half of series one, the channel has confirmed that the episodes will air "at a later date". Argh! I need to know now!) ********* Aaaaand to bring this post back around to CoE, there have been some very cool new TV promos recently. The newest one from Australia, an extended preview of Gwen's "this is how the world ended" video, is eerily Cloverfield-esque. BBC America has also come up with a minute-long "behind the scenes" effort, featuring short snippets of the cast (including RTD as his usual humble and modest self! :D) | ||

The Next Doctor stars David Tennant as the 10th Doctor along with David Morrissey. The DVD has a suggested retail price of $14.98 in the US. This single-disc release will include a 60 minute bonus feature of Doctor Who at the Proms. The usual trailer, sub-titles, Dolby Digital 5.1 are included as well. No word about an audio commentary, but one is assumed to be included. | ||

| News: Children Of Earth Day One Preview Posted: 24 Jun 2009 07:26 PM PDT Captain Jack Harkness, Gwen Cooper and Ianto Jones (John Barrowman, Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd) return for a new adventure in Torchwood: Children Of Earth, a five-part series for BBC One. An ordinary day becomes one of terror, as every single child in the world stops. A message is sent to all the governments of Earth: "We are coming." But, as a trap closes around Captain Jack, the sins of the past are returning and long-forgotten events from 1965 threaten to reveal an awful... | ||

| Posted: 23 Jun 2009 11:00 AM PDT Our focus is the Ninth Doctor, Christopher Ecclestone, in the first of our two podcast look at the man who was instrumental in bringing Doctor Who back to us in 2005. We look at how it all came about, just how responsible is he for the show's current success, and did he leave too early? Join Trevor and Marty as we delve into a year of Doctor Who where leather jackets were all the rage and it was again for the Doctor to snog his companions. The official website for Torchwood: Children of Earth has been launched. This BBC website is catering to the UK and thus media such as movies contained on the site are not available outside the UK.
The 2008 Christmas special, Doctor Who: The Next Doctor is scheduled to be released on DVD in North America on the 15th of September 2009. Oddly (but not Oodly), this comes approximately six weeks after the scheduled release of recent special Doctor Who: Planet of the Dead (available on the 28 July on DVD and Blu-ray).
