| Video Release Information in Video Business Posted: 04 Jul 2009 07:11 AM PDT Video Business is a trade publication for producers and distributors of video product, primarily in the US. It's a publication from the same people who publish Variety, the entertainment industry trade paper. I used to work for a distributor, and I still get this electronically - it's always interesting to read to see what the trends are. And sometimes there's cool stuff too! Here's an announcement about "The Next Doctor." http://www.videobusiness.com/ReleasesDetail/55910.html I'll let you know if I find anything else of interest. | ||

| Torchwood producer talks Children Of Earth Posted: 04 Jul 2009 12:00 AM PDT Does switching from BBC Two to BBC One change the nature of the series? Obviously we're trying to appeal to a more mainstream audience going to BBC One, but it is still post-watershed. We actually take this series on a darker journey, if anything. But... | ||

| News: James Moran on Screenwriting Posted: 03 Jul 2009 08:57 PM PDT The man behind Day Three of Torchwood: Children of Earth, Series 2 episode Sleeper and Doctor Who's 2008 adventure The Fires of Pompeii James Moran writes in the Telegraph today giving an "insight into the 'best job in the world'" Telling the story of Moran's recent career since his acclaimed movie Severance, the article covers his moves from a successful British horror movie to writing for Torchwood, Doctor Who, Spooks and the criminally cancelled Primeval (Moran's episode a couple... | ||

| Posted: 03 Jul 2009 07:18 PM PDT Russell T Davies is everywhere this week, you might have noticed, as he promotes the miniseries Torchwood: Children of Earth which is set to air next week. However the outgoing Doctor Who executive producer and storyline is always asked about the Time Lord's adventures. It is with one such TARDIS related question that the giant Welshman reveals a great truth: "I feel I'm just a caretaker of Doctor Who," he says. "Hopefully there'll be hundreds more writers on the show after... | ||

| Posted: 03 Jul 2009 11:00 AM PDT No one would have believed that in the first years of the 21st century that Doctor Who would ever come back from the timeless worlds of cancellation. No one could have dreamed it was being scrutinized as someone with a microscope studies creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. Few men even considered the possibility of Christopher Eccleston leading the role. And yet across the gulf of the BBC minds immeasurably superior to ours regarded this show with optimistic eyes and slowly and surely they drew their plans to bring it back. And who would have thought that one season of Doctor Who, one Doctor, would achieve a three-part retrospective! But here we are again. Trev and Marty (and James!) finish up their look upon this Ninth Doctor fellow, grab some feedback and give their thoughts on the second half of season one. | News: Torchwood Radio Behind the Scenes Posted: 03 Jul 2009 09:58 AM PDT Before we get to Children of Earth however, we've had the three rather interesting audio adventures on Radio 4's Afternoon Play strand this week - and would you believe there's some behind the scenes stuff available related to the three productions? This is mint content though - it's by the producer and director of the three plays, Kate McAll and gives a rare insight into the nightmare of organising the talent on a radio drama into a schedule that can then be rehearsed and recorded... |
