Video Release Information in Video Business

Posted: 04 Jul 2009 07:11 AM PDT

Video Business is a trade publication for producers and distributors of video product, primarily in the US.  It's a publication from the same people who publish Variety, the entertainment industry trade paper.  I used to work for a distributor, and I still get this electronically - it's always interesting to read to see what the trends are.  And sometimes there's cool stuff too!  Here's an announcement about "The Next Doctor."

Does switching from BBC Two to BBC One change the nature of the series? Obviously we're trying to appeal to a more mainstream audience going to BBC One, but it is still post-watershed. We actually take this series on a darker journey, if anything. But...

Russell T Davies is everywhere this week, you might have noticed, as he promotes the miniseries Torchwood: Children of Earth which is set to air next week. However the outgoing Doctor Who executive producer and storyline is always asked about the Time Lord's adventures. DWO WhoCast episode 127

Posted: 03 Jul 2009 11:00 AM PDT

No one would have believed that in the first years of the 21st century that Doctor Who would ever come back from the timeless worlds of cancellation. No one could have dreamed it was being scrutinized as someone with a microscope studies creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water. Few men even considered the possibility of Christopher Eccleston leading the role. And yet across the gulf of the BBC minds immeasurably superior to ours regarded this show with optimistic eyes and slowly and surely they drew their plans to bring it back.
