| Posted: 23 Jul 2009 09:01 AM PDT In what has been seen as a positive move to improve reception of the much-derided Doctor Who spin off series starring a revised version of former robot dog companion K-9, the producers have cast John Leeson! Revealed in Doctor Who Magazine 411, reveals that John Leeson returns the role of voicing the robot dog over 32 years after first taking the part. The plot of the new K-9 series sees the classic version - as seen currently in 2006's School Reunion and The Sarah Jane Adventures -... | ||

| WE ARE HERE. WE ARE HERE. WE ARE HERE. Posted: 23 Jul 2009 02:42 AM PDT Every year I swear I'm never coming back and every year I do. San Diego Comic Con is not a convention. It's a trade show. It's also a social experiment in frustration. There's too many people crammed into a huge space. Someday, something awful is going to happen. Sure hope I'm not here to see it. Anyhoo, arrived in beyootiful San Diego, dropped stuff off at our amazing hotel (it's in an old bank building) and then headed down to the Con. We stood in the 'Professional' line (my DH owns comic book shops) out in the hot sun for over an hour. Then we got to sit down in an even bigger line to get onto the Exhibit Floor for Preview Night. It was a zoo. But the big boys all had their booths rockin'. DC. Marvel. Lucasfilm. Disney. Huge. | ||
| Posted: 23 Jul 2009 02:28 AM PDT Hooray! Actual news again, for the first time in an age. For even though filming continues on the third series, there's very little set reports or photographs to report on. A massive thank you to Doctor Who Magazine then for a massive update on casting.... Episode 3 & 4 feature Souad Faress, Gregg Sulkin, Eleanor Tomlinson, Toby Parkes, Rai Rajani and Kate Fleetwood. Meanwhile episodes 5 & 6 stars David Tennant as the Doctor, with Nigel Havers, Zienia Merton (who appeared in Doctor Who way back in 1964 during Marco Polo - playing Ping-Cho). Floella Benjamin returns to the role of Professor Celeste Rivers for the third time in episodes 7 & 8 - and it's far from a cameo! "At last, she's going into action with Sarah Jane!" Producer Nikki Wilson reveals. Starring alongside her will be Adam Gillen (as the Professor's assistant Toby Silverman), Donald Sumpter (as Erasmus Darkening - "one of the greatest and most chilling villains we've ever seen"), Tony Boncza and Amelia Clarkson. Also in 7 & 8 is Callum Blue - star of Dead Like Me, and boyfriend of Billie Piper's Hannah character in Secret Diary of a Call Girl. The fifth story, made up of episodes 9 & 10, features former Coronation Street star Suranne Jones, with Jeff Rawle and Liza Sadovy. Best of all, the same story has a cameo appearence from Lizo Mzimba - the BBC's Entertainment Corrospondent. *** There's also confirmation that John Leeson will return to voice K9 in the new Jetix series, due to air next year in Australia. For more hints and teases about the new run of the SJA and K9 pick up Doctor Who Magazine issue 411 now, for £3.99. | ||

Featured in the Sunday Mail, Pearson covered the highlights of a long career that has brought hime to pulling space buggies on wires wrapped around tumblers for David Bowie's son. Funny old world. | Posted: 22 Jul 2009 06:04 AM PDT Issue 411 of Doctor Who Magazine reveals that K9 veteran, John Leeson, will once more voice the robot dog in the upcoming series of adventures produced in Australia. Not only will Leeson voice the original character in the opening episode, he will also voice the redesigned model throughout the 26-episode series. The programme is due for transmission in Australia in the spring of 2010. The magazine features more details of the return of Tom Baker to the role of the Doctor, as the veteran actor gives a rare interview explaining his decision to return to the character after nearly thirty years. Baker has recorded a series of five audio plays, under the banner Hornets' Nest, for BBC Audio. He plays the Fourth Doctor, alongside Richard Franklin who returns to the character of Captain Mike Yates, a character he first played in the television series in the early '70s. The first story will be available as a CD or download from 3rd September. DWM is out now across the United Kingdom. |
