| Posted: 10 Apr 2008 03:24 PM CDT It is nice to see that the commentary track dropped at the last minute on the US DVDs for Series three is now available on the BBC America website. I can't imagine anyone listening -- and pausing -- with it while it's actually airing on BBC America. (Especially in case they make any sort of episode cuts -- the episode was heavily cut on Sci Fi, after all...) But, really, very very cool. | ||
| It's just the way my brain works... Posted: 10 Apr 2008 03:09 PM CDT Ok. Sometimes, I think there are some times that I can't escape Doctor Who. I'm watching the following video of Jonathan Coulton performing his song Still Alive in the UK, and well, they've got a bunch of faces on sheets of paper... and one is clearly Colin Baker from when he was playing the Doctor... why, I don't pretend to understand. I think there's some fine tuned "Doctor Who" sense that goes off whenever there's something with a connection to the series... | ||
| Posted: 10 Apr 2008 10:36 AM CDT DWO RPG - Coming Soon DWO are currently working on a brand new Doctor Who Role Playing Game. The game will be FREE OF CHARGE to all our visitors and will allow you to enter worlds of the Doctor Who universe that you never knew existed. As well as new faces / planets there will be some familiar ones too. Those of you who are familiar with our popular VORTEXTRA section, will be aware of the Games that we created to accompany each new series episode. For the rest of Series 4, we will be replacing the games with teasers for the brand new DWO RPG. To get the ball rolling, we now present Teaser #1: "Something is stirring in the the dark, the sound of thunder is rumbling in the distance. Is it the oncoming storm? Something's coming, and even the corridors of time are shaking... A new hero is needed. Are you ready?" Teaser #2 will be integrated into the VORTEXTRA for 4.2: The Fires of Pompeii, this Saturday. DWO RPG will be available this summer, only on Doctor Who Online. [Source: DWO] | ||

| Posted: 09 Apr 2008 09:20 PM CDT Despite concerns from ISPs that the BBC iPlayer is using too much bandwidth which the BBC should be paying for, the video streaming on demand service continues to march, with the Nintendo Wii joining desktop computers and the Apple iPhone in being able to view content. According to C+VG Nintendo have already gone live with the system, despite advising customers that they would receive an email to confirm the service had gone live. However while the deal means that all BBC programmes... | ||
| Posted: 09 Apr 2008 09:11 PM CDT Enterprising knitters and people with some clay lying around have created a raft of Adipose cuddly toys, with various types selling on eBay. The woolen handknitted version utilises a cardboard insert to it stand and is stuffed with child-safe stuffing, but the eyes are unsuitable for under-3s. Meanwhile, there is the clay version, where the seller states: Sold individually - if they're popular, I'll make some more! Closer inspection reveals them to be lumps of plasticine with... | ||

| Posted: 09 Apr 2008 11:13 AM CDT I think the advertising for the Sarah Jane Adventures on Sci Fi has made it clear that this spin-off is much more a children's show than Doctor Who is. The main reason why I was skeptical about an American distribution was that I couldn't quite see how it would get sold here -- but the teenage cast should make it clear that it's target audience. It's an enjoyable show -- but really, the intended audience is completely different than something like Battlestar Galactica -- and that is one of the things views of the show have to be aware enough to realize. | ||
