| News: Further Specials Casting Posted: 08 Jun 2009 09:58 AM PDT At least one piece of casting news seems to be grounded in fact today - Being Human actress Sinead Keenan is apparently in the final Doctor Who episodes to star David Tennant. According to SFX (via the Ultimate Doctor Who blog) Being Human creator Toby Whithouse told them: "Russell T Davies would email me after every single episode, going, ‘I’m loving it!’. He absolutely fell in love with Sinead who plays Nina so he’s given her a part in David Tennant’s... | ||
| Posted: 08 Jun 2009 07:54 AM PDT First reported around a month ago, former James Bond Timothy Dalton was allegedly cast as a villain in David Tennant's final Doctor Who episodes. With speculation claiming "Time Lord!", "Regenerated Master!" and much more, it all went a bit quiet on the Dalton front, and other than the declaration that: He’s in the UK right now and is shooting scenes over the next few weeks. ...there seemed little in it. io9.com have apparently been sent a bit of a spoiler,... | ||

| Posted: 07 Jun 2009 07:31 PM PDT The British Fantasy Society, which has presented the British Fantasy Awards since 1971, is this year adding a category for Best Television, and Doctor Who has been nominated for the new category, which does not appear to be strictly limited to the fantasy genre. Also nominated are "Battlestar Galactica", "Dead Set", "Supernatural" and "Dexter". Doctor Who: The Writer's Tale by Russell T Davies and Benjamin Cook has also been nominated for an award in the Best Non-Fiction category. A full list | ||

| Posted: 07 Jun 2009 06:49 AM PDT The bad luck at Torchsong continues. Tom Price looked the wrong way as he was crossing the street and was hit by a bike- not a car- and broke his arm. He stayed through the convention events on Saturday and then had to head home to rest and see his proper doctor. John has been virtually attending thanks to a live video feed and has been delighting the fans with his trouble-maker charm. Just a reminder for those of you who are mourning the troubles of Torchsong, a Doctor Who and Torchwood convention called Hurricane Who is going to be hosting Gareth on Halloween weekend. One day passes are going for $20 each until the end of June and a full weekend is only $55. For those who can't quite make it out to some of the pricier conventions, this could be a good solution. Check it out at their website. | ||
| Posted: 07 Jun 2009 04:52 AM PDT Rumours are circulating this weekend that the 2010 series of Doctor Who - season 31 in Kasterborous' book - will be split in two by the BBC to accomodate the FIFA World Cup which kicks off Friday June 11th 2010. By this stage, Doctor Who could conceivably be half way through its run (although it could also be nearing a conclusion) but the speculation on io9.com (via Life, Doctor Who and Combom) points to Steven Moffat opting to split the series in two. If the series took a summer break and... | ||
| News: Noel Clarke - Saviour of British Cinema? Posted: 07 Jun 2009 04:06 AM PDT Former Doctor Who companion Noel Clarke has been interviewed in the Guardian recently (Friday, with an appearance on GMTV timed to coincide) in which we discover that he's a hard working, driven man who doesn't spend his days in bed till noon. We do get these opinions of actors and other freelancers that they spend their days in pyjamas, not getting dressed until it's time to attend awards ceremonies and development meetings - and certainly as far as Noel Clarke is concerned, that couldn't be... | ||

| Posted: 06 Jun 2009 08:25 PM PDT The speculation and rumour mill has sadly come to this - a Hack of the Week Award for the usually readable and geneuine Den of Geek, whose recent summary of Doctor Who special rumours has crossed the line from informed tittle-tattle to reading Outpost Gallifrey's forum and The Sun and printing rumour as fact. These elements have lead to a pretty dire article on Den of Geek - a site we like - that rambles through various tabloid reports but lends them too much credence. Only Den of Geek's... | ||
| News: BBC America Picks Up Who Posted: 06 Jun 2009 07:58 PM PDT BBC America have planned a week of High Definition content for July - and the highlight is the recent Easter Special Planet of the Dead, which will be followed by the subsequent 2010 Doctor Who specials. Joining Doctor Who on BBC America wll be Primeval, Being Human and editions of non-genre programming such as Top Gear and the overrated Gavin and Stacey. | Posted: 06 Jun 2009 08:56 AM PDT Stansted C of E Primary School celebrated its annual summer fete today, with one special difference! This year, the school was lucky enough to play host to a Tommy Knight signing, and I and a friend were lucky enough to go along! Tommy was there to raise money for his favourite charity, the Demelza House Children's Hospice - a cause which aims to provide care for over 450 children with life-limiting illnesses. Tom raised over £1000 for the charity last June after attending a signing at The Oncoming Storm convention. SARAH-JANE.tv were lucky enough to cover his donation to the hospice the following month! This year, half the money raised by Tom's activities at the fete will also go toward benefiting the school where he'll be doing his signing. Stansted C of E Primary is a small rural school with just over 80 pupils. With only four classrooms across the school, year groups of different ages are often combined in one room when taught their lessons. The school has some superb facilities and no doubt a most excellent teaching staff, but the money raised from events like these offer rural schools like Stansted Primary the chance to grow and enhance their teaching experience. Plus, it's an opportunity for the pupils, their parents and the locals to have a bit of summer fun, too! At the end of the day, SARAH-JANE.tv surprised Tom with a few pressies! Amongst them, a Good Luck card signed by everyone at the fete wishing Tom well for his exams, a little chocolate treat from moi and le pièce de résistance? A gift from SARAH-JANE.tv reader, Brian, which left Tommy speechless! So props to you, Brian! Very creative present! Tom and his folks loved it! More so since Tommy himself is studying Art at school! All in all, a grand day oot with fun had by all! Many thanks to Stansted C of E Primary, in particular organiser Trisha Broszek and her daughter Victoria, for all their hospitality! And many thanks to Tommy Knight and his family for letting me hang out with 'em for the day, even behind the scenes! | ||
