| The 4th Doctor's Return - A fan's reaction Posted: 08 Sep 2009 12:59 PM PDT
For many Doctor Who fans, especially those of a certain age (and it still upsets me that I can now use that phrase about myself!), the biggest news of the summer - with the exception of the first pictures of the 11th Doctor - has been the return of Tom Baker to the role that made him a national institution and an icon all over the world. Yes, the 4th Doctor is back - in a 5 part audio adventure called Hornet's Nest from BBC Audio. It's been almost 30 years since the 4th Doctor had a new adventure. 30 years since those wonderful warm and throaty tones have been part of a new Doctor Who story.

| Blackadder Creator Richard Curtis to Write Doctor Who Episode Posted: 08 Sep 2009 09:51 AM PDT
Curtis, aged 52, revealed, "There will be a monster. And a famous historical figure will battle the monster." He can not reveal much more. Some of speculated that the historical figure could be none other than Sir Edmund Blackadder himself. Though this is just speculation. | ||

| I say, Blackadder, er, Vicar, er, Doctor… Posted: 08 Sep 2009 04:31 AM PDT Just when you think Doctor Who can't get any more awesome… news comes that Richard Curtis is writing for You know, the Richard Curtis that wrote and created Blackadder, The Vicar of Dibley, Four Weddings and a Funeral and is one of the best known TV writers in British television along with, well, Steven Moffat and Russell T Davies. It's not like Curtis is unfamiliar with the show, either. He was executive producer for the Moffat-scripted 1999 Comic Relief sketch, The Curse of Fatal Death which featured Rowan Atkinson as the Doctor. And in the finale of The Vicar of Dibley, Alice, the sweet-but-dim verger insisted that Geraldine's wedding have a Doctor Who theme, with matron of honor Alice even dressing like David Tennant's Doctor. Curtis is the first writer to be officially announced to be writing for the series. It's clear they're raising their game a notch or two between Curtis and the rumoured script by Neil Gaiman… | ||
