Ken's Scarf day 5

Posted: 05 Oct 2009 03:58 PM PDT

Today the DH and I drove back to Colorado Welcome to Coloradofrom Taos.

We had a great time at the Taos Wool Fest.

Caught up with some old friends, ate some great food.

And of course, I knitted.

I got about five hours of knitting done in the car (when I wasn't sleeping-- it was a busy weekend).

Stats for tonight are:

Total time: 18 hours

Time knitting today: five hours

Total length: 39.5"

Length knitted today: 10"

22 out of 44 stripes

Finished 2 out of 15 skeins of yarn

Doctors in the other guy's clothes

Posted: 05 Oct 2009 11:46 AM PDT

It would seem that SPOILERS they've begun filming Matt Smith's first story and shots of him wearing David Tennant's outfit have begun and in honour of this we have pictures of Doctors in their predecessor's outfits… [SPOILERS ahead]

When William Hartnell regenerated into Patrick Troughton (not that they called it regeneration then), the Doctor's clothes, it would seem regenerated with him. But he kept the cloak he was wearing and was wearing his ring (before it dropped off from being too big to fit his finger).

image

With Troughton into Pertwee, we only get a brief glimpse of the Doctor in what we presume to be his second incarnation's costume, though it appears to have grown with him…

image

By the time Pertwee regenerated into Tom Baker (and they call it regeneration by then), it's established that the Doctor wears the clothes of his predecessor when he transforms. Sadly I can't find a decent screengrab from Robot, but here's the Doctor at least wearing his third incarnation's coat…

image

Probably the most shocking regeneration was Tom Baker into Peter Davison, not least of which because it's so startling to see someone as young (and straight-haired) as Peter Davison in Tom Baker's costume (note, the Doctor's boots have regenerate into shoes…)

image

And here's Colin Baker in Peter Davison's outfit. They had to, in actuality, let out the seat of Davison's trousers so Baker could fit in them!

image

When Sylvester McCoy put on his predecessor's costume, it fit him like a tent…

image

The Seventh Doctor was wearing a shroud when he regenerated into Paul McGann. And the Eighth Doctor's regeneration happened offscreen. But we saw the Tenth Doctor, David Tennant, act out a scene in Christopher Eccleston's costume, which similarly seems big on him…

image

And now (still time to look away)...

New On Location Photos Show A Regenerated Doctor

Posted: 05 Oct 2009 11:11 AM PDT

Photographs taken on location shooting Doctor Who posted to Alun Vega's Flickr account reveals a newly regenerated 11th Doctor played by Matt Smith. Still wearing the torn and tattered outfit of the 10th Doctor (David Tennant), he is seen with Karen Gilan (Amy Pond) shooting a scene by an ice cream truck.

News: Post Regeneration Threads (Mild Spoilers)

Posted: 05 Oct 2009 10:09 AM PDT

The first look for Matt Smith's Eleventh Doctor Who is a long way from the tweed and bow tie we were introduced to in July, if recent snaps from location shooting in South Wales are anything to go by. SFX have feature a small selection of images of the new Doctor on location, kitted out in what appears to be the last wardrobe change of the Tenth Doctor. Faded Converse, pinstriped trousers, blue shirt and swirly blue tie - all torn and singed, suggesting that the recent regeneration has been...

News: Amy's Legs (Mild Spoilers)

Posted: 05 Oct 2009 09:57 AM PDT

With plenty of images popping up of recent filming of Doctor Who in Cardiff, you can expect Matt Smith and Karen Gillan to be appearing in various print and online news outlets over the next couple of days. So it is with much glee - but with a warning of some slight spoilers to come - that it transpires that sexy companion Amy Pond begins life in Doctor Who as a rather stunning WPC! We're not going to speculate on what this all means, but curren location filming of Doctor Who appears to be...

News: New Logo Imminent!

Posted: 05 Oct 2009 07:45 AM PDT

Doctor Who has had many logo changes in the past and Tuesday sees the unveiling of a brand new look for the show! We've had the old 1960s swapping from monochrome sans serif to monochrome serif type; the boldness of the Pertwee era logo; the famous diamond logo that accompanied Tom Baker; the neon brassiness of the early 1980s; the CGI/CBBC horror of the McCoy years and the long standing rebirth of the Pertwee logo with a shiny chrome look accompanying everything Doctor Who shaped between...

Countdown To Logo…

Posted: 05 Oct 2009 03:45 AM PDT

Apparently at 8AM UK time the new logo for the Matt Smith era of Doctor Who is going to be unveiled.

You have to give these guys credit. The last logo to debuted in 2004 as part of the ridiculous new series promo feature, Whospy, which took pictures of random props during shooting and after 13 or so weeks of them gave us a picture of Chris Eccleston in costume and then showed us the logo. Which caused the Internet to melt down and the BBC designers—whose names were originally included—to be flooded with hate mail by Very Bad Fans.

Now it's a big EVENT! Watch this space! Tomorrow! 8AM! Oooh! Ahhh!

New Doctor Who Logo to be Revealed Tuesday

Posted: 04 Oct 2009 08:44 PM PDT

Doctor Who logo introduced with Jon Pertwee's eraA new Doctor Who logo is to be revealed on Tuesday at 8am BST (UK time) on the BBC Doctor Who website. We had been expecting this to come with the new series starring Matt Smith. Internally the new series is being reset to series 1. It is a fresh new start for Doctor Who once again, a new logo seemed only natural.

Classic Diamond LogoThe logo has changed numerous times over the last 46 years. We seen changes from the Hartnell era to Troughton to Pertwee (first time in colour and instead of just standard type, it uses a custom font). The final season of Jon Pertwee introduced the diamond logo which was used through Tom Baker's era until John-Nathan Turner refreshed it with a neon style logo. It was updated once again several years later when Sylvester McCoy took the role.

New Doctor Who Logo to be revealed

Posted: 04 Oct 2009 08:34 PM PDT

The BBC have announced on the official Doctor Who website that a new logo for the series will be revealed tomorrow morning at 8:00am UK time:
On one level, the logo is the iconic image that represents Doctor Who. But it's much more than that - it becomes an icon that is recognised from Cardiff to California, an emblem of excitement, humour, scary monsters, brave companions and the Doctor! And so the new logo must be stylish, fresh, distinctive and bold. Must be. And will be. See for yourself when we reveal it exclusively, on this site at 8am on Tuesday, 6th October!

There is also a video on the evolution of the Doctor Who logo to accompany the article.
