| Posted: 07 Oct 2009 05:41 PM PDT Today was a strange day. I got knitting Maybe it was just the over the halfway done blues. I mostly knitted around the house today, read my iPhone eBook, watched some TV (Mythbusters). Did sneak out to a knitting meeting, but came home early. Just a boring day, I guess.
Tonight's stats are: Total knitting time: 27 hours Time spent knitting today: 5 hours Total length: 61" Length knitted today: 11.5" 31 out of 44 stripes Finished 4 out of 15 skeins of yarn
| News: Location Shoot Press Coverage Posted: 07 Oct 2009 10:01 AM PDT Recent location work for Doctor Who featuring Matt Smith and Karen Gillan - in what appears to be the first episode of the Eleventh Doctor's era - has featured in national press coverage in both The Sun newspaper and WalesOnline. Despite concerns from some local businesses, the Catheral Green area of the town has done pretty well; Babs Mackie of tea room Jaspers says: "We’ve had a lot more people coming in, two fans were even waiting at 8am when I opened up and they came down... | ||
| News: You Design the TARDIS Console! Posted: 07 Oct 2009 05:09 AM PDT Blue Peter have launched a fantastic new competition for young fans of Doctor Who - offering the change to design a new TARDIS console out of household items! The overall winning design will be chosen by incoming Doctor Matt Smith and will appear in an episode of the 2010 series - household items must be used for the console design in order to meet the requirements of the plot. As is traditional with these types of competition (such as the Absorbaloff competition back in 2005), entries will... | ||
| Posted: 07 Oct 2009 02:14 AM PDT Broadcast magazine has a good news item on the new logo, including information on the designers, Red Bee Media - who have a pretty impressive track record of TV work. Not that you would read that on the Doctor Who News Page. They haven't posted anything since yesterday morning. They haven't even POSTED AN IMAGE OF THE LOGO YET. Instead, they posted the geofenced video from the BBC website (which any reader outside the UK, including most of the News Page's editors, can't read). What's mind-boggling is they could have easily posted the image or even the YouTube version of it (which isn't even breaching copyright—the BBC posted it to YouTube themselves). 24 hours on there's still nothing… So we'll add some more content that should be up on the News Page. According to SFX, the BBC have another 'widescreen' treatment of the logo
While no one is saying, this might be how the title appears on screen or on the side of DVD spines! I must say I prefer it to the 60s-ish stacked version, but that's personal preference.

| Posted: 06 Oct 2009 08:57 PM PDT Sharp demand for tickets for a Doctor Who themed author discussion at Morley Literature Festival next week has resulted in a change of venue. Writers Robert Shearman, Mark Morris, Simon Guerrier and Mark Michalowsk were originally meant to be taking part in a question and answer session at Morley Library in Leeds, but due to a surge in ticket sales from Doctor Who fans they will now be appearing in Alexandra Hall at Morley Town Hall. It's a good guest list too, with Rob Shearman and Simon... | ||
| Posted: 06 Oct 2009 06:24 PM PDT Today the DH and I got back into We went to a local coffee shop so he could write (with some noise and bustle in the background) and I could read and knit. I got about two and a half hours of knitting done there today, while I read 'Small Favor' by Jim Butcher on my iPhone (the little blue rectangle in front of my hands- being held up by a Naja stand). I've read this book before, but I'm re-reading it so I can read his new book 'Turn Coat'. The DH worked on cards for a talk he's giving in Baltimore. Then we went home and had dinner. The evening's real entertainment was to go see Toy Story 1&2 in 3D! Of course I took my knitting and knitted all through Toy Story 1. But I ran out of yarn and didn't have another skein of red with me. | ||
| Posted: 06 Oct 2009 06:22 PM PDT Former Doctor Who guest Reggie Yates - also a TV and radio presenter - has revealed he would like to make another appearance in the show. Yates made a couple of brief appearances in the 2007 run as Martha's brother Leo, but naturally due to Martha leaving the TARDIS there's been no real likelihood of that character making a return. So Reggie is thinking of a more villainous role... "I'd love to go back to Doctor Who as a baddie," he told Now magazine. "That would be... | ||
