| Posted: 19 Aug 2008 04:51 AM CDT Thanks to a heads up from one of our readers, Dannii, we now know the names of one of Torchwood 3's first guest stars - 10 year old Julia Joyce, who appears as [SPOILER!] one of the enigmatic 'Children of Earth'. Her character is called Holly. Joyce previously appeared in the 2005 Doctor Who episode "Father's Day" as a younger version of Rose Tyler.
In other news, we can confirm that filming has started* on the new series. Both Eve Myles and Euros Lyn have been spotted on the streets of Cardiff, recording scenes - which include some sort of traffic jam. Geez, a "Gridlock" rehash, already ;) | ||
| Have a Brief Encounter with Colin Baker Posted: 19 Aug 2008 04:31 AM CDT The recently opened sci-fi and collectables shop, The TARDIS in Carnforth, North Lancashire, is hosting a special event on Bank Holiday Monday, 25th August. Colin Baker will be signing copies of his latest audio Doctor Who adventure, The Doomwood Curse along with photographs and other merchandise. As well as the signing, Colin will be interviewed by Big Finish producer, John Ainsworth, in front of an audience who will also get an opportunity to ask their own questions. The event will be taking place on Carnforth Station and its Visitor's Centre from 10:30am until approximately 3:00pm. Colin has promised that he will not leave the event until anyone who wants an autograph has received one. As well as Colin's signing and interview, there will be competitions, a raffle and a quiz. There may even be some familiar monsters hanging around the station. All children will receive free goody bags. Entrance to the event is by ticket only which can either be purchased on the day or, at a discount, in advance. Prices are £10.00 for adults (£8.00 in advance), and £5.00 for children under sixteen (£4.00 in advance). Under five's are allowed in free. Ticket purchase will entitle each adult to over £20 worth of vouchers which can be redeemed against the purchase of merchandise from The TARDIS shop - including advance orders for The Trial of a Time Lord DVD boxset which will be autographed by Colin. Payment in advance for tickets can be made by cash (in person at the shop), cheque, or PayPal. Regrettably there is no facility for credit or debit card payment. Carnforth Station was the location used for Noel Coward's classic film, Brief Encounter, starring Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard. Refreshments will be available in the station cafĂ© (which looks just as it did in the movie) and you can also visit the station museum. Trains will be running regularly throughout the day. There is also a large car-park outside the station. For more details about Carnforth Station, visit their website at www.carnforthstation.co.uk. | News: Who Stars in Survivors Remake Posted: 18 Aug 2008 08:59 AM CDT TV Zone has recently published a feature on the main stars of the BBC's remake of Terry Nation's 1975 series Survivors, which features not only Freema Agyeman, but Pete Tyler actor Shaun Dingwall... Freema and Digwall appear alongside Max Beesley, Paterson Joseph (Rodrick in Bad Wolf/The Parting of the Ways) and star of the far-fetched Bonekickers, Julie Graham in a series of hard hitting post-apocalyptic episodes. | Posted: 18 Aug 2008 08:35 AM CDT I'm told that you can't move for Colin Baker at the moment, and whether that's a weight-related joke or not it's hard to tell. Still, the Sixth Doctor dominates the news pages of Kasterborous for another day with news of the latest series from Big Finish - Doctor Who Stageplays! These are audio adaptations of the three licensed Doctor Who stage plays - The Ultimate Adventure which played in 1989, The Seven Keys to Doomsday which dates back to 1974 and Curse of the Daleks which ran for one... | ||
| Posted: 18 Aug 2008 04:35 AM CDT  There's more news on the Colin Baker front - he's coming to a house near you! Well, not quite but if the news keeps rolling in like this, don't be too surprised to see him doorstepping! Along with Terry Molloy, (Davros on screen between 1984-1988 and since in a series of Big Fnish productions) and Nicholas Courtney (who played Brigadier Lethbridge-Stewart in the 1970s and returns to the role on TV in the next run of The Sarah Jane Adventures), Colin Baker will be appearing at... | ||
| Posted: 16 Aug 2008 11:25 AM CDT Fun. Fun. Fun. That is how I would describe The Doomwood Curse. That is the original review that I submitted to our fearless editor Christian Cawley. He then promptly returned it to me and told me that it was just a few words to short. So I had a look my self and found he was right. Huh, I guess there is a reason he has the cool title. Where to begin… Charlotte Pollard, played by actress India Fisher. The Doomwood Curse – like The Condemned before it - follows... | ||
| Posted: 16 Aug 2008 08:24 AM CDT Doctor Who co-star Catherine Tate's recent appearance on ITV1's This Morning to promote the play Under the Blue Sky has been made available as streaming video on the ITV website. Says Catherine of her roll as a randy maths teacher: "This kind of character is someone I haven't played before. Michelle is very out there and very sexually liberated. I think she is a heroine of our time, but the one thing she isn't is self-pitying. She'll never ask for pity and she'll never be a victim,... | ||
| News: A Brief Encounter with Colin Baker Posted: 16 Aug 2008 08:03 AM CDT A Brief Encounter with Doctor Who is the name of the forthcoming Doctor Who event at Carnforth near Morecambe in Lancashire - and the main guest is the Sixth Doctor himself, Colin Baker. The affable and always value for money Baker will meet and greet fans at Carnforth railway station's Doctor Who-themed shop 'The Tardis' on Monday, August 25th at the event which is being held to coincide with the release of the DVD Trial of a Time Lord. A Brief Encounter with Doctor Who includes the... | ||
| News: HG Well's Sonic Screwdriver Posted: 16 Aug 2008 07:29 AM CDT A Welsh theatre group has successfully acquired a sonic screwdriver toy - for a play about HG Wells. The Pontlliw Players recently launched an appeal for a sonic screwdriver prop or toy for use in their play A Musical Journey, which opens this weekend. Bob Edwards takes the lead role of HG Wells, who incredulously travels through time to take in some musicals. I had no idea Wells was that way incliined. Edwards said: "We had built the sets and designed costumes, but we couldn't... |
