Kopic's Doctor Who & Torchwood News |
| Posted: 10 Sep 2008 09:28 AM CDT If you've been following the news today, the switch-on of the LHC (Large Hadron Collider) in CERN's 27km tunnel has been a mild success. CERN is attempting to recreate the conditions of the vital moments following the Big Bang. The device has been in construction for the past 13 years - which explains why such a big who-ha has been made over its launch! To celebrate CERN's experiment, the BBC commissioned a special one-off 45 minute radio episode of Torchwood, titled "Lost Souls" and starring John Barrowman alongside his regular team of Eve Myles and Gareth David-Lloyd, with Doctor Who alum Freema Agyeman along for the ride to. In case you missed it, the Radio 4 Wednesday play is available to listen again here. Meanwhile filming continues on block one of Torchwood's third season (episodes one through three) and then block two (four/five) begins next month - rumoured to feature [HIGHLIGHT TO REVEAL] Martha Jones and Mickey Smith, though nothing has been confirmed by the BBC as of yet. More news as it comes in. What are you guys and gals doing right now, in the summer hiatus? Hands up who's watching (or rather, re-watching) the series DVD boxsets? Or perhaps you're putting all of your energy into intricate fan fiction? Or perhaps you're silly enough to write a fansite blog (hang on...) - let us now by writing in the comments section below! Regards & toodles, he says. | ||
| Posted: 10 Sep 2008 08:41 AM CDT Funny man Toby Hadoke chatted to free paper Metro recently about his Doctor Who themed show Moths Ate My Doctor Who Scarf, and how it has developed over time... Hadoke talks about how the story has been compared to Nick Hornby's Fever Pitch, as well as taking the showe to the US, and a possible TV version. It has been compared to that [Fever Pitch]. The important thing was for it to be funny, but also entertain people who'd never seen Doctor Who. It was a sleeper hit in 2006, so we took it... | ||

| Posted: 10 Sep 2008 04:35 AM CDT Various sources in the British media are today reporting fresh speculation about a potential Doctor Who feature film. A report in The Sun newspaper has suggested that series star David Tennant is negotiating with the BBC about starring in series five of Doctor Who in 2010, with the proviso that a feature film version of the series comes as part of the deal. The Sun's report quotes a "show source" as saying: "For ages, BBC Worldwide held the rights and were planning to make a movie, but it got h | ||

| News: Doctor Who Stars in Autumn Lineup Posted: 09 Sep 2008 07:41 PM CDT Doctor Who's enduring popularity among actors has seen the BBC Autumn lineup become scattered with actors associated with the series in some way or another. Most obviously at present is the Marc Warren-starring Mutual Friends, which features the Love & Monsters co-star alongside the voice of Mr Smith, Alexander Armstrong. Of highest profile among Doctor Who fans however will be Einstein and Eddington, the dramatisation of the correspondence-based friendship between the most influential... | ||
