Posted: 19 Jan 2010 09:09 AM PST The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that US network Fox is developing an American version of Torchwood. According to the site, the project is being developed with the original executive team, most of whom are now based in Los Angeles. The scripts would be written by Torchwood creator, Russell T Davies, with Julie Gardner and Jane Tranter acting as executive producers. The whole project would come under BBC Worldwide Productions. Tranter and Gardner moved to the US with a specific brief to develop BBC properties for the American market. Torchwood has been shown on BBC America where it set viewing records for the channel and has a strong fan base in the US. It is likely that if the series is commissioned some of the current cast would be involved; most likely John Barrowman would reprise the role of Captain Jack.

Posted: 19 Jan 2010 07:38 AM PST I can see how Torchwood could possibly get American treatment, especially with Julie Gardner, Russell T Davies and Jane Tranter all based in California now. And honestly, I'd so much rather have an American Torchwood than an American Doctor Who remake. Which is something that really does scare me, after all. Especially if it is one not also trying to serve the UK market, which the 1996 TV movie did. I really don't have a massive opinion about it. After all, it's a genre show on FOX -- it will get canceled after at most a dozen episodes anyways.
Posted: 19 Jan 2010 07:30 AM PST Here’s a great clip of David Tennant (remember him?!) chatting with Steven Moffat on Doctor Who Confidential. It’s a great clip, in which Moffat and Tennant share some Scottishness and the Grand Moff declares the BBC Television Centre as being “more Hollywood than Hollywood.” Beginning with a wander into the studio complex in London and dropping in [...]

Posted: 19 Jan 2010 06:47 AM PST Over the past 5 years since the return of Doctor Who,we’ve been living in a world where the “overnights” - the initial audience figures that give an indication of how successful a broadcast has been - have been absolutely vital. However it turns out that they might not be that important after all. Following the massive [...]
