Posted: 17 Apr 2010 12:18 AM PDT One of the most experienced supporting actors to grace the classic series of Doctor Who died recently. Hubert Rees was already a well known face on British TV before he appeared in the 1968 adventure Fury From The Deep in the role of Chief Engineer. By this time he had already starred in such shows as Richard The Lionheart (1962), Suspense (1963) and Softly Softly (1968). His association with the Second Doctor continued in 1969 when he played Captain Ransom in three episodes of the epic 10-part serial, The War Games. Hubert returned to Doctor Who in 1976 in the first two episodes of The Seeds Of Doom playing John Stevenson, and continued to appear constantly for the rest of his career chalking up roles in classic shows such as Van Der Valk (1977), Bucaneer (1980), Travelling Man (1984), Bergerac (1985) and Auf Weidersehen, Pet (1986). Doctor Who fans should note that Hubert played the character of Inspector Lestrade alongside Tom Baker (as Sherlock Holmes) and Caroline John in the 1982 production of The Hound Of The Baskervilles.

Posted: 16 Apr 2010 09:00 PM PDT There's a top review over on Outpost Skaro of the new Doctor Who DVD release Myths and Legends, which features the Fourth Doctor adventures Underworld and The Horns of Nimon as well as the Third Doctor in The Time Monster. To accompany the review, they've cleverly interviewed the Doctor himself, Tom Baker, and K-9 co-creator (and writer of Underworld) Bob Baker. With a good few gems to add to the standard review fare, there's plenty to read here, with Bob Baker recalling of how they approached Underworld:
Meanwhile, the man with the mad eyes – Tom Baker – talks about The Horns of Nimon, an oft-maligned tale from 1979.
This review is for Outpost Skaro members only – if you're not a member already, you'll need to signup to enjoy some great content.
