Barrowman's 2 Stuntmen!

Posted: 17 Jul 2011 07:53 AM PDT

It's not a tabloid story (they're behaving these days…), but our headline instead refers to an interesting interview with John Barrowman appeared on Den of Geek this week, in which the Torchwood: Miracle Day star revealed a few fascinating things about the differences between filming in the USA and in the UK.

Something that will raise a few eyebrows is the fact that previously Barrowman did his own stunts as Jack Harkness, whereas now it isn't possible, for one insurance reason or another…

I normally would do my own stunt driving, my own fight sequences, my own smaller stunts. In Wales, I'd do them myself.

They won't allow me anymore. I have a lot of restrictions on what I can and can't do. Not only stunt-wise. I've got two stuntmen doubling for me at the moment. But I also have it written into my contract that I can't do certain things in my own life.

It seems that Captain Cheesecake can't actually do anything to unwind, with extreme sports such as "mountain bike riding, I can't go scuba diving, I can't snowboard, horseback ride" out of bounds, along with football, soccer and water skiing!

Any fans of Barrowman, Torchwood and Doctor Who should check out the interview, in which John also recalls that he and Steven Moffat agreed that it would be great for Jack to return to the show…

Torchwood: Miracle Day continues this week with episode 2 on BBC One, Thursday at 9pm and episode 3 in the USA on the Starz network at 10pm on Friday!

Moffat's Paris Comic-Con Interview

Posted: 17 Jul 2011 06:06 AM PDT

Our favourite DoctorWhoPhile Aurélie Demonchaux has been back in touch with more information concerning Steven Moffat's recent appearance at the Paris Comic-Con event.

First of all you should give this video by 8artcity a viewing – it compiles highlights from Steven Moffat's day at the Comic Con, and includes the fans' enthusiastic welcome, extracts from the Masterclass, the Doctor Who screening, the Doctor Who conference and even the signing session.

Meanwhile, Aurelie is a member of the popular French Doctor Who site/forum Beans on Toast, and they were lucky enough to grab  an interview with The Grand Moff. The transcription of the interview is in French, however, so you'll need to polish off your copies of "Tricolore"…

The interview covers several cool topics such as :

  • the creation of River Song's character
  • Rory's deaths
  • Captain Jack
  • how Neil Gaiman came to work on Doctor Who + the possibility of Neil Gaiman writing another episode for the series.

As to the Neil Gaiman question, sadly there is no exact and 100% accurate transcript in English, since Moffat's answers were directly translated into French from the audio and with English not being Aurelie's Mother tongue, she opted to avoid another "misquote and misunderstanding" thing.

However, Steven Moffat does mention how Series 7 is going, and as such Aurelie has kindly provided the chance to hear his exact words via a short clip from the recorded audio interview.

Behind the Scenes?

Posted: 16 Jul 2011 10:20 PM PDT

Famed north east England comics Reeves and Mortimer (aka Vic and Bob, aka Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer, aka Jim Moir and Bob Mortimer) have been releasing a series of sketches online recently, sponsored by Fosters.

The comics, from Darlington and Middlesbrough respectively, famously had their own Saturday evening adventure series around ten years ago which guest-starred one Tom Baker. Their remake of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) featured remarkable guest turns from all manner of stars, including a young David Tennant…

Titled Vic and Bob's Afternoon Delights, this series has been drawing comparisons to the duo's classic BBC Two series The Smell of Reeves and Mortimer, and number 10 should be of particular interest to Whovians, titled, as it is, "Behind the Scenes at Dr Who".

You can see it below…

If you're new to the humour of Vic and Bob, this will either blow your mind or confuse the hell out of you!
