The photos taken by "Scootyboy" are available on his Photobucket page here (slight spoiler warnings).
| Reviews: Hornet's Nest: The Stuff of Nightmares Posted: 21 Oct 2009 08:15 AM PDT When I heard that Tom Baker was recording a new series of Doctor Who CD releases for BBC Audiobooks, I almost fell over. I certainly had to sit down. With Paul Magrs writing the script, a cast that co-stars Richard Franklin (a replacement for the originally intended Nicholas Courtney) as former UNIT captain Mike Yates and superb cover art (conceived by Anthony Dry and realised by Ben Wilsher), The Hornet’s Nest series of audio adventures for the Fourth Doctor represent the first time... | ||

| News: TARDIS Tipping (SPOILER) Posted: 20 Oct 2009 11:55 PM PDT There have been a lot of Doctor Who location snaps published across the web recently, many of which are pretty dull and unrevealing. However this particular set of snaps reveals a rare TARDIS manouevre that we haven't seen in years! In a scene straight out of classic Doctor Who adventure Castrovalva, the Eleventh Doctor's TARDIS has been snapped lying on its back, suggesting a crash landing for the time machine in Matt Smith's first adventure. According to reports, both the old David... | ||
| Sally Sparrow Hits The Big Time Posted: 20 Oct 2009 11:13 PM PDT
There are news reports everywhere (but we'll link to Yahoo News since it makes the Doctor Who connection) about Carey Mulligan (AKA Blink's Sally Sparrow)'s breakout role (in Hollywood terms anyway) in the film An Education where she plays a 17 year-old who has a relationship with a 36 year-old man in 1960s London. People who have seen her performance are already talking about Oscar contention—and that's saying something given that she's sharing the film with heavyweights like Peter Sarsgaard and Emma Thompson. You can see an interview she has done with Entertainment Weekly. The film appears to be in limited release at the moment, but hopefully will make it to wide release soon.
| Posted: 20 Oct 2009 10:41 PM PDT Another of Andrew Orton's works, this time restoring the original narration of Gordon Tipple playing the Master to the video of the opening of the 1996 Doctor Who TV Movie. Andrew then sweetens the deal by adding some proper Daleks to it through the magic of CG Fascinating stuff, and an insight into a road that might have been better travelled when it came to the TV movie… (I prefer the Tipple narration to the one Paul McGann read in the actual final product) | ||
| Posted: 20 Oct 2009 07:38 PM PDT Once again, the show has done us proud! The launching two-part SJA story The Prisoner of the Judoon got some fantastic ratings for its time slot last week, and now we learn that the show's AI scores (that's Audience Appreciation, if you didn't already know) are just as impressive. AIs are used to detirmine how an audience reacted to a piece of programming, and in particular how much they enjoyed viewing it. The average score for shows on BBC One and ITV 1 is 77 - anything above 85 is considered exceptional (especially for a show going out at the time that the SJA does...). Well then... go figure! *** Did you know that the first series of The Sarah Jane Adventures is now available to download via iTunes? Oh yes, every story from Revenge of the Slitheen through to The Lost Boy (but strangely enough, not Invasion of the Bane like you might expect...) has been uploaded for your viewing pleasure, at a cost of £1.49 per episode. Alternatively, they're offering the entire series for £12.99. The second series will be added once those adventures are out on DVD, I should imagine. (While there, why not purchase the two first SJA audiobooks - The Glittering Storm and The Thirteenth Stone - for an irresistible price of £2.95 each!) Remember!! The third series of The Sarah Jane Adventures continues every Thursday and Friday on BBC One & the BBC HD Channel from 4:35pm. | ||
| Ian Todd's Untruths Series 3 - The Louis Trapani Special Posted: 20 Oct 2009 07:26 PM PDT
Ian throws out his standard fare of unusual questions at Louis and he supplies some daft answers in this 9 minute episode. They cover ice cream inventions, Life on Mars, Ashes and Ashes, soda, aliens, and much more. Ian Todd has interviewed everyone from David Cross, Toby Hadoke, to our own James Naughton (Doctor Who: Podshock and Hitchhiker's Guide to British Sci-Fi)

| Posted: 20 Oct 2009 06:02 PM PDT The town of Stockbridge has some strange goings on. A lot in fact. So much so that it had to step out of the pages of Doctor Who Magazine and hop into the audio world of Big Finish – once again - with this months new, somewhat comedic, Peter Davison release, Castle of Fear. The Doctor and Nyssa decided to go on a bit of a holiday into the past of Stockbridge, 1899 to be precise. However, no holiday is complete in the Doctor Who universe without a bit of a mystery to solve. In this case,... | ||

| Posted: 20 Oct 2009 11:00 AM PDT Our thoughts turn to the future this week on the DWO WhoCast. Regeneration is on our mind presently, what with David Tennant about to pass the mantle of Whodom across to the young whippersnapper Matt Smith. Marty and Trev talk about regeneration - what we want to see when the time comes over the Xmas break this year to say goodbye to the 10th Doctor. We also review one of the new players in the online streaming video market - Blinkbox. They offer a whole ton of Doctor Who which you can view free online, as well as a lot of other TV shows and movies. Check 'em out! As well as a healthy dose of the latest news, it's what you would expect from the DWO WhoCast! This posting includes an audio/video/photo media file: Download Now | ||
