Who in the What Now?!

Posted: 20 Oct 2009 08:28 AM PDT

Question: How well do you know The Sarah Jane Adventures? Is it:
A: Really, really well - better than anybody else on planet Earth, infact.
B: I'm confident I know my Slitheen from my Judoon.
C: Alright, I suppose. Still, Merlin/Primeval/etc. is more my thing.
D: Erm... The Sarah Jane What-Now?!
If it's answer D, I really don't know what you're doing reading a fansite dedicated to a CBBC series you know nothing about...

For everybody else, rejoice! For the BBC are releasing a hefty SJA Quiz Book, that runs to over 100 pages with 250 questions included. So, now is the perfect time to put your knowledge of Sarah Jane Smith et al. to the test!

You can pre-order the book for just £3.74 over on Amazon. Worth every penny - we think so!

(While we're at it, you can pick up both of the new SJA audiobooks for just £4 - or there abouts - each. Bargain, huh?)

Just because we forgot to mention it last week when it was originally posted up online, here's an interview that the Daily Record conducted with Elisabeth Sladen in the build-up to the third series launch.

News: Tennant and Sladen in Radio Times

Posted: 20 Oct 2009 06:39 AM PDT

Next week sees The Wedding Of Sarah Jane Smith (Thursday, 29th and Friday, October 30th), the moment when the Doctor makes an appearance in Bannerman Road, Childrens BBC and The Sarah Jane Adventures! To celebrate such as occasion, the Radio Times have a feature dedicated to the event. While there's no cover for what is firmly a (very good) children's show (you can see James May fulfilling that role...) there is a marvellous picture of Lis Sladen and David Tennant as Sarah Jane Smith and the...

News: Mary Tamm Interviewed

Posted: 20 Oct 2009 12:13 AM PDT

Former Doctor Who co-star Mary Tamm - the original incarnation of Time Lady Romana - has had the first volume of her autobiography published. Digital Spy have published an interview with the actress whose later TV appearances include Brookside and in 2009 EastEnders. Despite appearing for just 1 season of Doctor Who (1978's The Key to Time run of adventures), Tamm has nevertheless taken part in conventions and other fan events over the years. So what of the title of the book, First...

When It Changed and Black Widow Pages

Posted: 19 Oct 2009 11:53 PM PDT

I'm pleased to report that When It Changed, the new SF anthology edited by Geoff Ryman, with a story by me in it, is now available, either from all good bookshops, or from Comma Press themselves. You can find all the details here. This is the anthology for which Michael Moorcock was kind enough to allow me to use his character Jerry Cornelius. The idea of the book is that the writers involved,

YouTubing It #6

Posted: 19 Oct 2009 10:39 PM PDT

I've been a big fan of Andrew Orton's work for a while now. He does these absolutley brilliant CG renders of classic series sets. Here we have his version of the Hartnell-era TARDIS console room, and he even weaves in an affecting little narrative of the Doctor alone with his memories.

Just lovely.

Wedding To Remember

Posted: 19 Oct 2009 08:13 PM PDT

The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith two-parter airs on the tellybox next week! But for a lucky few of us who've received e-tickets in our inbox, an advance screening of the story is only a few days away! Preempting this, Digital Spy have plonked up a few publicity stills of the episodes on its website today, offering us a further glimpse of what we have to look forward to:

The young Scoobies in awe of the TARDIS console!

Oooh, epic - casual Runaway Bride reference?

Oooh, low cut back wedding dress! Prettyful!

And our first proper promo pic of K9! w00t!

You'll have to visit Digital Spy to see the rest [there are eight images in all], including one of the Trickster sporting a rather nice wedding dress himself(!) xD You can also see an exciting new picture of Sarah Jane, the Doctor and K9 in the latest issue of Radio Times [the one that was supposed to be on the cover?], which has kindly been scanned/uploaded over at The Doctor Who Site!

Remember!! The Wedding of Sarah Jane Smith airs on October 29th and 30th from 4:35pm, on BBC One and BBC HD concurrently.
