| Posted: 20 Aug 2010 06:45 AM PDT Russell T Davies' recent chat with SFX has seen him reveal a few things about Torchwood Series 4 – not least the amount of behind the scenes work that has gone into forging a co-production between BBC Wales, BBC Worldwide and Starz.
Basically, yes he is. Dead. So Russell says:
So, the loyal Torchwood servant, tragically gassed in Children of Earth, will remain dead. Which is just as well. As we've seen with another loyal companion, repeated comebacks just serve to decrease the impact of the first departure (see Turn Left/The Stolen Earth/Journey's End, The End of Time, Part 2). Perhaps this is for the best.

Reward: £1,000,000 Recognition and an e-pat on the back. If you've been surfing the Anglophenia section of the BBC America website this week, you may have caught a glimpse of this Dalek-style "While You Were Out" tag that would be even more superb if found on a front door! To celebrate and help spread the message, Kasterborous is pleased to announce the start of a national campaign to hang these notes on every door in Great Britain! And YOU can help! Got a printer? Go ahead and churn out a couple hundred of these, cut out those little holes for the doorknobs with a pair of scissors, and hit every door in your neighbourhood! If every reader participates, we can have tens of thousands of Dalek door messages on the streets within a matter of days! So what are you waiting for? Hit Print, shut off your computer, and get to work! Seriously though, the folks at Anglophenia seem unaware of the image's creator, so if you or someone you know helped the Daleks attempt this extermination, please let us know immediately in the comments or via patrick@kasterborous.com so you can be publicly thanked! (You'll be asked to prove it, mind.) Because, quite frankly, we don't think a Dalek could have written "The Doctor" in perfect cursive with a sink plunger; a human must have been on hand to help out.

| SFX Poll Success for Doctor Who Posted: 20 Aug 2010 03:32 AM PDT SFX have published the results from round 2 of their top 200 characters poll with some excellent results for Doctor Who. As you may have already read, the Daleks topped the bill in the Favourite Monsters, Supernatural Beings & Fantasy Creatures category beating Predators, Aliens and Cybermen. But special (and well deserved) praise must go to the Master who came first in the Favourite Villains category. Pictured as his Roger Delgado incarnation, the insane Time Lord beat such favourites as Darth Vader (Star Wars), The Joker (Batman), Lex Luthor (Superman) and Magneto (X Men). The not-surprising news is that in the Favourite Hero category, our favourite Time Lord the Doctor came in at first place! Hardly surprising as he's brilliant but it's worth knowing that he beat other favourites such as Han Solo (Star Wars), Captain Jack Harkness (Torchwood), James T Kirk (Star Trek), Sam Beckett (Quantum Leap) and even Indiana Jones himself! Although they didn't top their categories, Catherine Tate as Donna Noble, Billie Piper as Rose Tyler and Elisabeth Sladen as Sarah Jane Smith came in at fourth, eighth and tenth places respectively in the Favourite Heroine category. So it's almost confirmed that characters from the Doctor Who universe are clearly the coolest ever (as if we didn't already know that). The final round is still to come and so there's everything to play for, the winners of each category will now go head to head to win the title of The Ultimate Best SF or Fantasy Character Ever. The results will be published in accordance with the release of SFX's 200th issue and wouldn't it be fantastic if the Doctor was voted the all time best character. Go to the link now and vote for our favourite Gallifreyan, he deserves to be honoured! The SFX poll can be entered by visiting www.sfx.co.uk! | ||

| Posted: 19 Aug 2010 11:16 PM PDT The BBC has today unveiled official details of the third episode from its pioneering series of Doctor Who: The Adventure Games – released on August 27th, 2010, it gives you the chance to explore the world behind the inner doors of the TARDIS! Executive produced by Steven Moffat, and written by James Moran (Torchwood, The Fires of Pompeii), this third installment of the four-part series is called TARDIS - and will, for the first time, offer fans the opportunity to fly the blue box which is bigger on the inside. Says Steven Moffat:
Doctor Who fans will soon find out, where the steps into the interior of the TARDIS lead, as the game allows players to explore the Doctor's wondrous drawing room, featuring treasures and artifacts from his many adventures – a location specially created for the game, which will go on to form part of the Doctor Who canon.
With the TARDIS stuck in a riptide, and the Doctor sucked into space, Amy Pond must explore the secrets of the time machine in order to restore normality. The adventure will uncover the secrets of the TARDIS, unveil two brand new monsters – and allow players to pilot the TARDIS themselves. James Moran's madcap script takes players on a frantic, funny and altogether surprising adventure which could only be told by a Doctor Who story. With full virtual likenesses of Matt Smith and Karen Gillan, and music from Murray Gold, this adventure is as much a part of the Doctor Who legend as the TV series. The interactive episodes are executive produced by Steven Moffat, Piers Wenger, Beth Willis and with Anwen Aspden (BBC Wales Interactive), alongside Charles Cecil, one of videogaming's most revered creators. The games are being developed by Sumo Digital, and the project was commissioned for BBC Online by the Vision Multiplatform team, headed up by Simon Nelson and is being driven by BBC Wales Interactive. TARDIS will be soon available simultaneously on PC and Mac from the Doctor Who website (www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho). The game will be available for no extra cost to UK households. Users outside the UK will be able to purchase and download it on the same date – August 27th, 2010! Users outside the UK will be able to purchase and download it on its UK release date, 27 August.Au

| Jago and Litefoot - Series 2 Titles Revealed Posted: 19 Aug 2010 09:33 PM PDT The second series of Jago and Litefoot will be released in January 2011 and features four brand new adventures, in which the duo investigates more infernal incidents in foggy Victorian London. The ensemble also includes Christopher Benjamin and Jago, Trevor Baxter as Professor Litefoot, Conrad Asquith as Sergeant Quick and Lisa Bowerman as Ellie, while David Collings (Doctor Who: Revenge of the Cybermen, The Robots of Death, Mawydryn Undead) joins the cast as Gabriel Sanders. The series begins with Litefoot and Sanders written by Justin Richards, in which Professor Litefoot teams with new sleuthing partner Gabriel Sanders, as they pursue the perpetrator of a number of sinister murders. "Yes, Jago and Litefoot have gone their separate ways!" announces producer David Richardson. "And Jago isn't happy about this at all… "When we came to cast the third part of this friendship triangle, we considered a number of great character actors. We set our heart on David Collings - and we were thrilled when he said yes." The second story is The Necropolis Express by Mark Morris, which centres on strange events in a remote graveyard. Renowned actor Vernon Dobtcheff, whose credits include Doctor Who: The War Games, Blake's 7: Shadow and the James Bond movie The Spy Who Loved Me, guest stars as Reuben Mord. Next up is The Theatre of Dreams by Jonathan Morris, a surreal tale in which Jago secures a new act for the Palace Theatre – but it's one that could prove fatal to the audience... The series concludes with The Ruthven Inheritance by Andy Lane, in which the excavated bones of the aristocratic Ruthven family reveal a terrible secret. Simon Williams (Doctor Who: Remembrance of the Daleks) plays Lord Ruthven. "And it doesn't end there," continues the producer. "A third season has already been commissioned – and it will be a rather interesting change of style…" Series two is available for pre-order now. | ||

Of most interest to a good portion of Torchwood fans, however, will be news of Ianto Jones' mortality.
Wanted: The person who created the picture found in this article.

The first two episodes of Doctor Who: The Adventure Games – City of the Daleks and Blood of the Cybermen – have been downloaded over 1.3 million times in the UK – and with episode three offering the opportunity to explore and pilot the world's most famous police box, it's sure to prove an equally massive draw.
The triple CD set, released by Candy Jar Books, features not only Baker providing a multitude of voices but also up and coming Welsh actress Claire Cage who has appeared in the Torchwood episode Sleeper, deputised for Zoe Wanamaker during The End of the World studio recordings and has also been in Sherlock! The plot for Kangazang is very Hitchhikers' Guide to the Galaxy-esque:
