| Price Reduction for Doctor Who: The Mazes of Time for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch! Posted: 16 Mar 2011 04:11 PM PDT
As previously reported, the Doctor Who iOS game, Doctor Who: The Mazes of Time debuted in the Apple App Store last December. There are two versions, one is for the iPhone and iPod touch, and an HD version for the iPad. Unfortunately, it is not a universal app, so you can either get the iPhone/iPod touch version and upscale it for the iPad, or alternatively get the HD version specifically for the iPad. The prices in the US App store had been $3.99 and $4.99 respectively, but are NOW ONLY 99¢ each. So if you have been holding off purchasing this game for the iOS platform, now is the time (that includes myself). At this time, I don't know if this price reduction only pertains to the US iTunes App Store or if it is worldwide. Also I do not know if this is a permanent price reduction or a limited time sale. Here is the link to the iPhone/iPod touch version: Doctor Who: The Mazes of Time - BBC Worldwide Here is the link to the iPad HD version: Doctor Who: The Mazes of Time HD - BBC Worldwide A screenshot for the iPhone/iPod touch version

| Posted: 16 Mar 2011 05:30 AM PDT It's that time of year again, people, when John Barrowman stops being an occasional TV personality and decides to bombard us all with his unique blend of awesomeness singing and dancing. The Captain Jack Harkness actor is timing his UK tour to begin just around the time we're expecting Torchwood Series 4 (aka Miracle Day) to come to an end, and right on time to release… wait for it… a best of collection featuring tracks from his three albums to date.
I can. In particular the old half-Scots charmer is performing horrifyingly close to Kasterborous Towers, descending on both the Bridlington Spa and the York Barbican as well as Newcastle City Hall. Here's a list of tour dates:
Tickets for the tour go on sale on Friday, March 18 at 9.30am – so you know what to do, people…

| Hugh Bonneville: Pirates & Spoilers Posted: 16 Mar 2011 04:54 AM PDT Doctor Who Series 6 guest star Hugh Bonneville has been chatting recently about some of his recent roles, as well as playing a pirate and avoiding spoilers… Bonneville stars in the David Tennant-narrated mockumentary Twenty Twelve, a sort of politer version of The Thick of It based on the 2012 Olympics organization team. He is of course best known for roles in Downton Abbey and Richard Curtis' Notting Hill, and appears as Pirate Captain Avery in the next series of Doctor Who. On the main point of his appearance in the series, Bonneville observed:
However the really interesting element is his attitude to releaving plots, either in Doctor Who or Downton Abbey. "Well, we're all just vaguely sensible about it. We don't want to spoil it for anyone. I'm intrigued by this need to know how it is going to be. It really came to me when I was filming Doctor Who and people were guessing plots before we had shot them and people were talking about story arcs and so on. I guess it's just a hunger for information these days." Hunger for information, fellow Kasterborites? What can he mean?! (Via Digital Spy)

| Posted: 16 Mar 2011 12:41 AM PDT I know, it's all me me me this week. I'm getting fed up with myself too. Actually, around dinnertime on a weekday I tend to get very tired of living inside my own head, and rather more want to hear about what everyone else has been doing. That's when the Twitter threads tend to form. Anyhow, the big news today, as demonstrated by the new widget on the right, is that I've been nominated for an SFX Blog Award! This is SFX Magazine's new contest for the best SF blogs/websites/podcasts. You can vote here. The category I'm in, Best Celebrity Blog, is on page seven, and you'll go past categories including many friends of this blog. My own category is... well, it's going to be tough for me to win that, considering the competition, and I'm flattered to be included! I've plonked a widget that'll get you straight to the awards if you click it, up on the right, there. But what of the beard, you ask? As we speak, you guys have raised £729.50 for Shelter, and we're only a week in. Here's what it looks like as of last night: ![]() Yes, I know. I look like a forgotten Simpsons character. To deal with a few of the comments on the site (which you can access via that widget top right), glad to hear from a Black Knight fan, Larry, that you participated in the glory of the Grell, Ben, don't worry, Mr. Moran, I won't hurt you, and, actually, I've been persuaded, Mags, a stage by stage shave-off is probably the most fun option. Or at least I'll try for a moustache picture. (And maybe the sideburns for Iz.) Tomorrow I'll be flying to Chicago for C2E2. Just a few days back I was going 'well, that should be nice and relaxed, I'm only doing a couple of things', and then suddenly everyone wanted me to do things. I've been given a dealer's table, which I'll be at off and on, depending on what else is going on. (I'll leave a sign indicating when I'll be there.) But otherwise you can find me here: Friday: 4.30pm: Signing at the DC Booth. 6.30pm: DC Nation panel in 470B. Saturday: 2.30pm: DC Icons panel in 474. 4.oopm: Signing at the DC Booth. Sunday: 1.00pm: Signing at the DC Booth. C2E2 have been kind (or foolish) enough to link their website to the A Beard For Lent campaign, and they've also put up a new interview with me. Loads of friends are going, and it'll be great to be back in Chicago again. If you're there, do say hello, to me and the beard. Talking of shows, the Saturday after that, 26th March, I'll be doing a signing at Chaos City Comics in Saint Albans, for which the shop have prepared this rather wonderful poster: ![]() I'm looking forward to it. Tomorrow, that is, Thursday 17th, my friend the Doctor Who author Martin Day has his latest episode of Doctors on BBC1 at 1.45pm. Of interest to fans might be that this is his attempt to 'smuggle a time travel story' into the show. It's called 'Pretending to See the Future'. And speaking of Doctor Who, a charming young lady called Rebecca, who I met at the Cardiff Comic Expo, has a strange hobby. She asks famous people what their favourite cheese is. So if you want to know what people like John Barrowman, Colin Baker, Gareth David Lloyd and Sylvester McCoy (and Boris Johnson) prefer in the fermented lactose department, take a look here. Until Chicago, then, Cheerio! | ||
| Freema says she's “really lucky” to have been Martha Posted: 16 Mar 2011 12:39 AM PDT Freema Agyeman appeared as a guest on The Alan Titchmarsh Show earlier this afteroon to discuss her current role as Alesha Phillips in Law & Order: UK. During the interview, the actress briefly commented on her time spent in the TARDIS as Martha Jones, admitting that she doesn't mind being associated with the role. Baker, who recently recorded two sets of audio adventures for BBC Audio/AudioGO with Richard (Captain Yates) Franklin, is set to record at least 13 full-length audio dramas for Big Finish (to be released as two "seasons" beginning in early 2012), which will reunite him with both Louise Jameson as Leela and Mary Tamm as Romana (not surprisingly, perhaps, there's no word as to whether he'll record anything with Lalla Ward - aka Romana II, aka. the former Mrs. Tom Baker). A Lost Stories box set featuring planned but unmade Fourth Doctor stories is also in the works. According to Big Finish's announcement here, the first set of stories will be recorded this summer. | ||

Late last night Big Finish felt confident enough to announce that Tom Baker would be following Colin Baker into Big Finish Audio, as the Doctor. For months it has been a sort of conformation, with Big Finish it's self and more appropriately Nick Briggs himself not wanting to say anything, as dealing in the past had only been a source of spot by Tom. The Details are as follows "Tom Baker will be playing the Fourth Doctor in a number of audio adventures for Big Finish, to be released from the beginning of 2012. Storylines and scripts are already at an advanced stage, and we plan to start recording early in the summer."

| Posted: 15 Mar 2011 10:57 PM PDT ![]() We all knew they could do it! Last night, The Sarah Jane Adventures won the best children's drama against Tracy Beaker Returns at the Royal Television Society awards. "The winner was emotional and incredibly engaging – a wonderful drama that stands on its own as a terrific piece of storytelling. The cultural diversity of the cast, its high production values and creative storyline made it a joy to watch and kept you intrigued." The full list of winners from last night can be found here. | ||
| Posted: 15 Mar 2011 10:33 PM PDT Various elements of the Whoniverse have cleaned up at this year's Royal Television Society Programme Awards, with Doctor Who showrunner Steven Moffat in particular claiming a prestigious gong! While David Tennant failed to win the Best Actor award for Single Father – instead being beaten by The Curse of the Fatal Death's Jim Broadbent for Any Human Heart, and A History of Horror with Mark Gatiss was beaten by Alan Bennett and the Habit of Art, Sherlock was successful in winning the Best Drama award The Sarah Jane Adventures was the winner of the all-important Children's Drama award (and in a prime example of the sorry state of affairs in children's drama, was up against one other nominee, Tracy Beaker Returns…) It is Steven Moffat who should be the proudest owner of a hangover this morning, however, as the recipient of Judges Award for bringing us Sherlock and Doctor Who during the past 12 months. Congratulations to The Grand Moff – it's surely well deserved! (Via Digital Spy) | ||
| Posted: 15 Mar 2011 07:49 PM PDT As writer Christopher Isherwood, Doctor Who star Matt Smith had to spend some time kissing his male co-star – and apparently despite succumbing to stubble rash it was the herbal cigarettes that really turned him off. This Saturday evening on BBC 2 sees the premiere of Christopher and His Kind, which tells the story of the author's voyage of self-discovery against a backdrop of Nazi-era Germany. Speaking to the Radio Times, Matt reveals that he once had to kiss former EastEnder and Blur collaborator Phil Daniels.
The real problem, however, came with smoking. After all, kissing doesn't kill you, does it (unless you're doing it really, REALLY badly…)
Don't forget to pickup this week's Radio Times to read the full interview!
