Kopic's Doctor Who & Torchwood News |
| Posted: 16 Jun 2008 01:11 PM CDT Following the departure of Richard Stokes (who oversaw the programme's first two seasons, but has now joined ITV's "Law and Order UK" series) Torchwood has a new producer! According to the official Torchwood site over on BBCi it's Peter Bennett - who has past experience working on both Doctor Who and Torchwood - and has worked on the likes of "The Mummy", "A View to a Kill" and "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom". The news story also confirms that Euros Lyn will direct his first Torchwood episodes next series. The director has previously worked on a number of Doctor Who stories including "The Unquiet Dead" (with Eve Myles amongst its cast!), Hugo Award winning "The Girl in the Fireplace", "The Runaway Bride" and - more recently - Steven Moffat's two part adventure "Silence in the Library" and "Forest of the Dead". Series three will transmit on BBC One, a Torchwood first. It'll tell one single adventure over the course of five episodes which may or may not transmit on consecutive nights one week in 2009. They'll be two additions to the cast, to fill the void left by the departures of Burn Gorman (Owen Harper) and Naoko Mori (Dr. Toshiko Sato). Click here to read the news story. Also, there's a DigitalSpy news story regarding something Russell T Davies said to the New York Times last week about Doctor Who & Torchwood's largely postitve portrayal of Captain Jack Harkness as a bi-sexual man*. *Though we all know he's not bi-sexual, but omni-sexual, right? | ||

| Posted: 16 Jun 2008 08:15 AM CDT I don't often manage to write much fiction, and even less often have the enjoyment of seeing it in print. So I am doubly pleased to announce that one of my short horror stories, The Third Time, has been picked up by Murky Depths for publication in issue number 6, published December 2008.I first saw the magazine at last year's FantasyCon, and it was a startling debut. I recently saw issue 4, and it's even more impressive. In comic book format with glorious colour printing, short horror fiction, and some superb art and poetry, it's really well worth a look. Their homepage is at www.murkydepths.com. Take a look. And if you decide to get hold of an issue, tell them I sent you :) | ||

It was the 2nd most appreciated programme on BBC1 and ITV on Saturday after Trooping the Colour. | Posted: 15 Jun 2008 11:50 PM CDT The most recent episode of Doctor Who, "Midnight", is reviewed in two of the British broadsheet newspapers this morning. The Times's reviewer Andrew Billen felt that the episode was "too much of a writing exercise to be really scary," however he does concede that: "It showed that even if it fails as often as it succeeds, this series is not afraid of variety. Like the passengers aboard the charabanc, Doctor Who is dead scared of repetition." Sam Wollaston... | ||
