Two items from the 1980s classic era of Doctor Who were sold for more than 3,000 pounds yesterday. An entertainment memorabilia auction at Bonhams in Knightsbridge, London, saw a moulded and painted foam baby Tyrannosaurus rex in a jar from the 1985 Colin Baker story The Mark of the Rani go for 1,080 pounds, while a Dalek guard costume from the 1984 Peter Davison adventure Resurrection of the Daleks sold for 2,040 pounds. The actor David Brierley, who provided the voice of K-9 for four stories, has died of cancer, according to an announcement in the current edition of The Stage. Born in 1935, he appeared in such shows as Z Cars and Arthur of the Britons, The Tripods and Howards' Way, as well as the 1984 BBC drama Threads. It is with deepest regret that we announce the passing of David Brierley.

David was best known to Doctor Who fans for providing the voice for K9 in The Creature from the Pit, Nightmare of Eden, The Horns of Nimon and Shada.
