Freeview listings originally had a one minute preview down for 6:00am today, but for some reason it has now been replaced with another programme. The preview is now listed on Saturday 27th March instead, one week away from the UK Series 5 premiere. Share

We’ve had our current layout since the Spring of 2008, so it’s only right that we tidy things up a bit in time for the new Doctor’s first series. Posted: 23 Mar 2010 05:12 AM PDT GT Magazine (aka Gay Times) has an exclusive interview with new Doctor Who star Matt Smith - making him the first Doctor to ever hold the cover spot of a gay magazine. As well as Smith, they also have the first ever interview with the latest addition to the cast, Arthur Darvill (Rory). With Amy Pond actress Karen Gillan, head writer Steven Moffat, executive producer Piers Wenger and a selection of other characters and creatives, it looks as though it's a pretty good feature in GT! What's more, writer Gareth Roberts reveals that Matt Smith is set to appear pretty much naked in episode eleven! Speaking to GT Magazine, Matt Smith reveals his thoughts on his role as the Doctor:
There's also this funny reaction to Steven Moffat's description of the Eleventh Doctor as "Patrick Moore in the body of an underwear model":
April's GT Magazine is on sale March 24th and also features some politics - but you want Time Lords, not the House of Lords, right? (With thanks to Stu)

Posted: 23 Mar 2010 12:23 AM PDT Doctor Who producer Steven Moffat seems to have taken over Kasterborous today - this time he's been discussing the current expenditure limits for the series following recent BBC budget cuts. Observing that the ideal Doctor Who would be more expensive than Avatar (given the "go anywhere, anywhen" nature of the series) Moffat explained that he doesn't write with a budget in mind.
From where I'm sitting, it looks like they've had a budget increase - but of course we've only seens clips of season 31/Series 5 of Doctor Who. When Matt Smith bounds around time and space in the redesigned TARDIS as the Eleventh Doctor with Karen Gillan as Amy Pond by his side, we'll be able to give the issue proper appreciation. In the meantime, we'll just have to wait for The Eleventh Hour, on Saturday, 3rd April.
Posted: 22 Mar 2010 11:21 PM PDT Speaking to Digital Spy recently, Steven Moffat has revealed his thoughts on doing a multi-incarnation Doctor Who story as the series approaches its 50th year in 2013. With expectations that the Eleventh Doctor, Matt Smith, will still be in the TARDIS in three years time, the matter of getting surving past Doctors involved could nevetheless be difficult. But what does the man we christened "The Grand Moff" think of multi-Doctor stories - after all, he did bring us Time Crash with David Tennant and Peter Davison back in 2007…

Posted: 22 Mar 2010 08:30 PM PDT Scots actress Neve McIntosh has been a fan of Doctor Who for many years, and counts Tom Baker as her favourite - so she must have been pretty satisfied to win a part in a 2010 episode which sees the Eleventh Doctor encounter the Silurians for the first time in over 25 years. McIntosh - who as appeared in Gormenghast, Trial and Retribution and The Hound of the Baskervilles - had to endure 3 hours in makeup every day in order to achieve the look of a reptile warrior. However she was under added pressure - Neve plays twin Silurians!
Interestingly, after appearing opposite Eleventh Doctor Matt Smith and companion Amy Pond (fellow Scot Karen Gillan) McIntosh is set to appear in a four part drama with another Doctor Who Scot - David Tennant.

Posted: 22 Mar 2010 06:42 PM PDT Karen Gillan spoke to The Daily Record recently about the new job that has taken her from obscurity to fame - as a co-star in Doctor Who. As Amy Pond, Gillan will be the Doctor's latest companion, and the second redhead of recent years. Being The Daily Record, they also quizzed the actress about being Scottish - but the best part is Karen's thoughts on her action figure, and seeing it on the shelves of shops this Christmas.
Meanwhile, Gillan's mother is famously a fan of Doctor Who, resulting in the actress keeping her casting a secret until the day of the announcement in 2009. Nevertheless, she'll be watching the show with her parents and her nine-year-old niece Caitlin Blackwood, who you might have already seen in the trailer…
Karen Gillan appears as Amy Pond with Matt Smith as the Doctor in The Eleventh Hour, debuting in the UK on Saturday, 3rd April!
Posted: 22 Mar 2010 04:27 PM PDT Many fans have speculated on a multi-Doctor story since the show came back and with the 50th anniversary in 2013, it would seem like the ideal time to do one. In an interview with Digital Spy, Steven Moffat has said he wouldn't rule one out provided he had a good story. "It's slightly difficult to do them all now. I'm not against it but I think as a gimmick it outlives its usefulness quite fast." He said. Moffat continued, "Doing Time Crash with 8 minutes of Peter [Davidson] and David [Tennant] was about right. If you have a really good story that motors on the fact that this is one man experiencing the same adventure at several different points of his life, that would be worth doing. But you can't do a special or an episode as a reunion party. That's not a story, that's a party. Nothing wrong with parties but they're not great fun to watch. But with a really good story, then yes." Share
No Returning Characters in Series 5 Posted: 22 Mar 2010 04:23 PM PDT Anyone hoping for the return of past characters like Jack and Sarah Jane in Series 5 had better prepare for disappointment. In an interview with the Guardian, Steven Moffat said that no past characters will be back this year (excluding River Song then). "Old favourites can return, provided you can do something new and exciting with them. There are no past characters coming back in this series, but I imagine that kids would love to see Captain Jack meet the new Doctor." Moffat said in an interview with the Guardian. There's obviously a chance Moffat could be hiding the truth to make for a surprise return, but at the moment it looks as though we'll have to wait for the next series for any reunions. Share
