Posted: 01 Apr 2010 03:30 PM PDT Tomorrow we finally get to see the revamped Doctor Who, and no revamp would be complete without a new intro sequence. One of Doctor Who's new producers, Beth Willis, told io9 what we can expect. "It's in the same vein as it has been the last few years." Willis said. "The music is, I think, better and more exciting. It's still coming from the same place. We wanted it to feel more organic and more real and more tangible than it has [felt]… We wanted something that you could feel like you could reach out and touch, that felt completely real. We [also] wanted the TARDIS to go on a slightly more dangerous journey through the vortex." But will it have Matt Smith's face? Unlikely, but we shall see tomorrow at 6.20pm.

Posted: 01 Apr 2010 01:50 AM PDT There's a special treat for members of the Big Finish Group on Facebook - a video interview with actress Beth Chalmers, talking about her upcoming role as Raine Creevy in the second season of the Lost Stories. The video can be viewed here. And if you're not a member of the group - come and join in the fun!
Posted: 01 Apr 2010 01:33 AM PDT Big Finish has revealed the casting of the Doctor's new companion for the upcoming second series of The Lost Stories. The unmade Season 27, which was planned for production in 1990 but abandoned, introduces Raine Creevy, a young, sophisticated safecracker who joins the Doctor on his adventures through space and time. "Raine is sort of a beautiful flower growing on a bomb site," explains script editor Andrew Cartmel. "Her father is a dodgy character with underworld connections in London, and her background is in that milieu. But her parents wanted her to have a different and better life, so she's received the best education and been groomed for posh society. Of course, Raine being Raine she's reacted against this and she's developed her own taste for danger and excitement." Raine is to be played by Beth Chalmers, an actress who has experience of working with Big Finish on the stories Time Reef, 45, Curse of the Daleks and Leviathan. "This was the easiest bit of casting ever," says producer David Richardson. "Andrew's first script came in and the director, Ken Bentley, and I read it. Raine is gorgeous, sophisticated, intelligent and sassy – and Ken and I just turned to each other and said 'Beth'. We actually surprised her with the news while we were in the pub, enjoying a drink after recording our Sherlock Holmes play Holmes and the Ripper, in which she plays Mrs Hudson." "I was just so thrilled to be asked," says Beth. "And, while I'm familiar with being in Doctor Who, it feels so special to be playing such a key character and to become a part of the show's long history. It's wonderful working with Sylvester again, and Big Finish have promised me that they'll take me to some conventions – which I'm looking forward to immensely!"
