Posted: 14 Apr 2011 07:19 AM PDT Enemies are returning, old foes that have been patiently waiting for the Doctor and his friends to be in the right place at the right time so that they can exact their plans and carry out their dastardly deeds. The Silence are going to play a huge part in the new series of Doctor Who and River Song may just turn out to be the person that the Doctor has the most trouble with but that doesn't mean that all of his other enemies will just up and leave and forget about their oldest tormentor. To that effect it seems that the poor old Cybermen are feeling a little bit left out in the cold and so have decided to make an appearance for this latest series! From a picture that was released in this week's Radio Times and also now on the official Doctor Who website we can clearly see Rory Williams Pond, dressed as the Lone Centurion, facing off against a Cyberleader and at least three Cybermen. But where exactly does this fit in with the overall story arc of the season? And why is Rory dressed as the centurion? Is this all part of a trap devised by the Doctor and his friends or did the Cybermen enlist Rory's help as he was watching over Amy whilst she was locked away in the Pandorica last year? All these questions and hopefully more will be answered in the first half of this year's series but the sure bet is that the story is going to be worth waiting for! Is it just us, or do those Cybermen not seem to bear a Cybus logo on their chest plates…?

So That's Where the Ducks Went… Posted: 14 Apr 2011 02:50 AM PDT Ever wonder what happened to the ducks in Leadworth's duck pond? Most people seem to be under the misled impression that they fell into a crack in the fabric of reality and were erased from existence, but in fact they simply climbed into boxes to be purchased by nerds and hygiene-lovers alike! If you haven't been coveting Ducktor Who, the ultimate Whovian bath-time experience, it's because you haven't heard of it yet. Guess what – you have now, so start salivating! Although, come to think of it, Ducktor Who is really nothing more than a normal rubber duck with a Tom Baker scarf painted on it that comes in a TARDIS-themed box. And to be honest, its Star Wars predecessors had better designs (you should see the Darth Vader one). But it's the idea of a Doctor-Who-themed rubber duck that counts, right? We haven't mentioned the best part yet… this duck can regenerate! Okay, not so much regenerate as change colour upon contact with water thanks to LED lights hidden inside. The battery life allows this effect to last for about 180 baths, or roughly half a year's worth, assuming you clean yourself once a day. Ducktor Who can be purchased for just £6.99 at the Forbidden Planet website. Combine that with this handy TARDIS soap and your adventures in tub and space will never come to an end! Day Of The Moon - Press Release Posted: 14 Apr 2011 01:28 AM PDT The BBC has released press details for the second episode in the new series, Day Of The Moon, scheduled for transmission on BBC One on Saturday 30th April. The Episode is currently pencilled in sometime between 6pm and 7pm, but timings won't be confirmed until next week. The Doctor is locked in the perfect prison while Amy, Rory and River Song are being hunted down across America by the FBI, as the time-travelling adventure series continues. With the help of new friend and FBI-insider Canton Everett Delaware the Third, our heroes are reunited to share their discoveries, if not their memories. The world is occupied by an alien force that controls humanity through post-hypnotic suggestion, and no one can be trusted. Aided by President Nixon and Neil Armstrong's foot, the Doctor must mount a revolution to drive out the enemy and rescue the missing little girl. No one knows why they took her. Or why they have kidnapped Amy Pond.
Posted: 14 Apr 2011 12:38 AM PDT As you may know, the Doctor and friends are in Utah for the first adventure in Doctor Who Series 6, and thanks to the BBC we've got a nice mini gallery of snapshots of Matt Smith, Alex Kingston, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill relaxing off-screen! Interesting – Matt Smith and Alex Kingston in conversation look as though they're actually in character, with the Doctor browsing River Song's diary… Remarkably there are still 10 days to go before the new series of Doctor Who hits the airwaves. If you have so far managed to avoid spoilers from the many lucky people who have so far seen The Impossible Astronaut and Day of the Moon then you're doing very well indeed, frankly, and we're sure the wait is going to be worth it!

Posted: 13 Apr 2011 09:47 PM PDT This week's Kasterborous podKast features a fascinating discussion with Gareth Kavanagh about the second Doctor Who Magazine love-in that is Vworp Vworp! #2! Long-term readers of Kasterborous will recall that the first issue of Vworp Vworp! featured a couple of contributions from this very site, not least in the shape of part 1 of Time Leech, our own Doctor Who comic strip. But Vworp Vworp! was much more than a fanzine with a comic strip in it – rather it was a thing of beauty, with the professional quality design, printing and writing contributing to a pinnacle of fanzine production. In many ways it was like a copy of DWM that is itself about DWM. One of the key characters in the early days of Doctor Who Magazine (back in the Weekly/Monthly days) was Abslom Daak, the insane Dalek killer, and his band of Star Tigers. Daak features heavily in the next issue of Vworp Vworp!, and Gareth Kavanagh tells us a little bit about this and some other features coming up in the magazine. Use the play button below to enjoy the podKast right now, or use the direct download link to save it to your PC. Alternatively, subscribe to the RSS feed to get each new episode synced to your portable media player of choice! Thanks to Gareth for taking time out from the production of Vworp Vworp! #2 to chat with us!
Posted: 13 Apr 2011 09:35 PM PDT Mark Sheppard (Battlestar Galactica, Supernatural), who will in the near future be better known to us as Canton Everett Delaware III in the Doctor Who Series 6 premiere The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon, has had a nice long chat with American newspaper The Baltimore Sun (no relation to the unlinkably evil tabloid of a similarly bright name) about his first experience on Doctor Who… and British television in general, for that matter! In particular, Sheppard has commented on the many differences between the US and the UK when it comes to television production rituals, from the contrasting means of acquiring something to munch on (American Kraft Service tables vs. British tea trays) to the separate approaches to the amount of work deemed necessary:
It's really quite interesting when you think about it – while actors in British television are typically allowed a normal-length work day ending at 5 o'clock sharp, American actors might occasionally be working for several hours more… or they might not. From the way Sheppard described it, the American system sounds much more confusing – perhaps Billie Piper should think twice about trying to find a job in the States and just be glad any work she finds at home will have definitive hours! Make sure you're watching Mark Sheppard (not to mention Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Arthur Darvill, and Alex Kingston) in The Impossible Astronaut next Saturday, April 23rd on BBC One and BBC One HD if you're in the UK, BBC America if you reside in the US, or SPACE if you're from Canada and living there.

Karen Gillan: "Rory is the one for Amy. She just didn't realize it at the time…Amy with the Doctor, what would that be like? She's just as mad as he is!"
