| MacRae's “Big Surprise” Posted: 24 Jun 2011 07:01 AM PDT Ahead of the release of Series 2 writer Tom MacRae's new Doctor Who stage play The Crash of the Elysium, the man himself has given some insight into what we can expect from the stage production and also a little trickle of information regarding his new Doctor Who episode that airs as the second half of series six. Tom was last involved in Doctor Who when he wrote Rise of the Cybermen/The Age of Steel for David Tennant's first series as the Doctor. Since then he's been missing in action (largely) until suddenly this year, he's back and eager to offer us more Who, as can be seen in his recent interview in The Telegraph! The Crash of the Elysium is still to reveal more details but it seems that it will be an interactive adventure for children to participate in, MacRae stated:
Talking about his episode written for the Eleventh Doctor which will air later this year on BBC One, the writer was cryptic but reveals enough to make it a must see:
A really big surprise eh? Now what could be more surprising than all the surprises that we've already had this year? Guess we'll have to wait a few months to see… The Crash of the Elysium will begin its run at MediaCityUK Studios, Salford Quays (0161 876 2198), from June 30 to July.

| Doctor Who: episode titles update Posted: 24 Jun 2011 02:34 AM PDT With a couple of episode title mentions popping up in the media over the last week, here is an update of the currently known titles making up the second half of the current series, back later this year. Please note that (with the possible exception of episode eight!), the titles may still change before broadcast! The following episode titles and snippets may reveal plot details that readers might consider spoilers. Episode Eight: Let's Kill Hitler This title was, of course, confirmed in the end credits of the mid-series finale, A Good Man Goes To War. Episode Nine: Night Terrors Mark Gatiss confirmed on the Danny Baker Show (BBC Radio 5 Live, 18th June) that the title to his episode (nine) is to be Night Terrors. The episode - moved from its original position in the first half of the series - had been previously been reported as What Are Little Boys Made Of? by Doctor Who Magazine #433. Episode Ten: tbc On the other hand, Tom MacRae recently spoke to the Telegraph about his involvement with the interactive show The Crash of the Elysium, during which he also discussed his forthcoming episode (ten) in Doctor Who and how it's name isn't known as yet! I've written episode 10 which I think is my most accomplished piece of plotting ever. What's interesting is that the requirements of the script meant that for various reasons nothing has gone out about it at all. We didn't do much location filming, and the way the guest characters work is unusual, so no one knows anything about my episode. There's speculation about it which is wrong - some bright spark has put the title of the episode on IMDB as The Green Anchor - it has never been called that! I'm amazed we've kept it this secret because there's a really big surprise in it. All I will say is that it's an unusual episode and it's really great. Episode Eleven: The God Complex This title for Toby Whithouse's episode was reported in Doctor Who Magazine #432, which also confirmed the director as Nick Hurran and its guest star as David Walliams. Episodes twelve and thirteen have yet to be named, though the former has been nicknamed "The Lodger 2" owing to its guest star James Corden reprising his role as Craig Owens. | ||

| Miracle Day “Was Great Fun” Posted: 23 Jun 2011 09:53 PM PDT Who will actually remember about the good times had by all on set if the movie/TV show was terrible? Calling everyone "great, superb, wonderful to work with" is the default setting for the never ending tedium that is the press junket and comes with little or no insight: "Hey remember that person you think is great? Turns out they're great!" It's nice to receive a little self validation through the actions of another and to see that these modern actors with their iPhones and their fancy toasted sandwich makers are nothing if not professional but does it add to the quality of the piece? Sometimes it can bleed through – can you imagine Ocean's Eleven if one of the fabled eleven spent their downtime handing out flyers on the evils of gambling? Or if someone on Apocalypse Now actually thought he was Coronal Kurzt…no, wait. How about former Star Trek: The Next Generation actor John De Lancie speaking to TrekToday about his time acting in Torchwood: Miracle Day:
Would you be willing to forgive someone their trespasses if they decided to hang out in their trailer all day instead of joining in the japery if the show turns out to be amazing? They say that the end justifies the means and according to De Lancie the means will maintain that British quality of old Torchwood:
While sworn to secrecy, De Lancie did however let slip a few details about the character he's playing:
Judgement on the equation A Good Time was Had by All to the power of Worth all that Goofing Around shall be reserved for when Torchwood: Miracle Day hits the air on the 8th July in the States on the Starz Network and some time after that on BBC 1 in Blighty.

| Davies: ‘Cameron and Clegg are Evil' Posted: 23 Jun 2011 07:09 PM PDT Remember the day when Andrew Cartmel and the writing staff of Doctor Who stormed parliament, seized Mrs. Thatcher and launched her into the Thames using a medieval trebuchet? Remember the peace and prosperity that rang out across the land thanks to the Panama Hat Party and their leftist militant agenda? Nope? Shame…still there's no harm in kicking out the jams once in awhile – and biting the hand that feeds you – and who better to launch a stinging attack on the Coalition Government than a man currently uniting the US and UK with Torchwood: Miracle Day. Russell T. Davies has seen through the 'bumbling' 'buffoonish' image of the UK's collation government and attacked David Cameron and Nick Clegg labelling them 'savage and evil people':
That's a bit unfair calling them 'savage' and 'evil' it actually makes it sound like they would be able to work together. Speaking to Mark Lawson on BBC Radio 4′s Front Row Davies came out fighting over the government silencing BBC staff's protests by making the six-year licence fee freeze part of a wider range of Government spending cuts. Davies, quoted from BBC champion extraordinaire The Daily Mail said:
While the move does save the BBC twenty per-cent Davies is convinced there are more, sharper cuts to follow:
Davies also took them to task over plans to shore up the 9 pm watershed – the temporal threshold into which leads the non-stop BBC funded sex orgy and naughty words club of late night television – which he feels are all ready stringent enough:
This isn't the first time Davies has ranted at the Tories- in 2009 he was quoted as saying that if the Tories got into power they would dismantle the BBC – reducing it to little more than "Radio 4 and some news."
| Torchwood: Miracle Day Gallery Posted: 23 Jun 2011 06:31 PM PDT As you will probably know by now, Torchwood: Miracle Day arrives on STARZ on July 8th at 10pm ET/PT, and features Torchwood alumni John Barrowman, Eve Myles, and Kai Owen with new headliners, Mekhi Phifer, Alexa Havins and Bill Pullman. Torchwood: Miracle Day begins with a day when nobody dies. The result: a population boom, overnight. With all the extra people, resources are finite. It's said that in four month's time, the human race will cease to be viable. But this can't be a natural occurrence – someone's got to be behind it. It's a race against time as C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson investigates a global conspiracy. The answers lie within an old, secret British institute. As Rex keeps asking "What is Torchwood?," he's drawn into a world of adventure, and a threat to change what it means to be human, forever. Along with a nice selection of images below, here's a quick rundown on the additional key cast members: Arlene Tur (Crash, Eat Pray Love) and Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under, The Other Woman) also appear regularly, while the 10-episode, hour-long series will also feature an impressive list of guest stars: Wayne Knight (Seinfeld, Jurassic Park), C. Thomas Howell (Southland, The Outsiders), Ernie Hudson (OZ, Ghostbusters), Nana Visitor (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine), John DeLancie (Star Trek: The Next Generation), Mare Winningham (Mildred Pierce, George Wallace) and Frances Fisher (Titanic, The Lincoln Lawyer). So, the gallery… While a UK start date still seems out of reach (Torchwood: Miracle Day certainly won't be aired before July 16th) we'll be featuring coverage of the show from the point of its July 8th launch in the US, so if you're afraid of spoilers, think before clicking!
