Series 6 Part Two Trailer!

Posted: 24 Jul 2011 08:09 AM PDT

Thrills aplenty with these all-new Doctor Who trailers, with BBC One new season micro-clips and official all new material from episodes 8-13 and quite a nice chunk from The God Complex!

First off, you should have already seen this micro-trailer (hosted by Doctor Who TV) for the second half of Doctor Who Series 6 with scary dolls, some familiar faces and a possible kiss between the Doctor and returning lodger James Corden.

The clinch sees Matt Smith and James Corden mid-grasp as the Doctor tries to sonic something off screen resulting in this exchange between the two:

"Doctor, are you going to kiss me?'

'Yes, I guess I am'."

This clip also give us our first look at DCI Keats himself Daniel Mays (Ashes to Ashes) playing Alex in the Mark Gatiss-penned Night Terrors, as well as the scary dolls from the same episode.

Thanks to the BBC site, however, there are more clips on offer, such as this beauty from Toby Whithouse's The God Complex, featuring Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darville as the Doctor, Amy and Rory:

But the one you really want – the Series 6 Part 2 Trailer – is right here…

Doctor Who Returns to BBC America!

Posted: 24 Jul 2011 07:27 AM PDT

Thanks to the Comic Con panel featuring Matt Smith, Karen Gillan, Toby Whithouse and outgoing execs Beth Willis and Piers Wenger, we now know that Doctor Who Series 6 is set to continue on BBC America on August 27th!

Hurrah!

Given the pattern of BBC One and BBC America attempting to sync broadcast of the series to reduce spoilers and pirating, it's a fair guess that this is also the date the series will return in the UK, with the amazingly-titled Let's Kill Hitler!

Matt and Karen's presence at the San Diego Comic Con panel is to appear on a BBC America panel, so we can be pretty much certain that the date is reliable.

Note, of course, that the series' return to BBC One is yet to be confirmed.

So, it's time to set our alarm clocks, awaken the drones here at K Towers and generally get really excited.

Doctor Who is back in just over one month's time!

Karen Stays for Series 7

Posted: 24 Jul 2011 06:40 AM PDT

While the truth about the scheduling of Doctor Who Series 7 might be a question wrapped in an enigma wrapped in a puzzle, we know two things at least: both Matt Smith and Karen Gillan will be back!

The flame-haired actress revealed as much in a brief video interview recorded at the San Diego Comic Con earlier today, which is pretty good news for fans of Amy Pond!

Karen's confirmation of this means that Amy Pond will be one of the show's longest-running companions, and assuming she lasts more than one episode of Series 7, the longest of the nuWho era. Since 2005 only Rose Tyler (Billie Piper) has travelled with the Doctor for longer than Amy Pond as of the mid-way point of Series 6…

No word yet on Arthur Darville, however…

Karen Gillan Plays Away

Posted: 24 Jul 2011 06:33 AM PDT

Karen Gillan is branching out from the world of Doctor Who to star in a West End play called Inadmissible Evidence.

The revival of John Osborne's 1964 work will open in October in the Donmar Warehouse.

Appearing alongside Douglas Hodge, Karen will play his character's secretary. The play revolves around a middle aged solicitor who is bored of his life, his family and everything he does. As the piece progresses, you discover how cruel and nasty this man has become due to the trappings he is surrounded by.

Karen Gillan has recently started to get more and more work outside of her role in Doctor Who. This is hardly surprising as she is a great actress but a question comes to the front of the mind: how long do we have left with Amy Pond?

It certainly would be a shame to see Karen go but at the same time, that's the nature of the show that we love. Friends come and go but are never forgotten. Hopefully, Gillan will stay around up to the show's fiftieth anniversary in 2013, which is technically only one more series for her.

More details of Karen's play will be posted as they become available.
