A new set of 4 wallpaper murals based on Doctor Who, has just been released by Black Dog Murals.

Each mural is scaled to fit the wall it is intended for and printed on standard wallpaper with environmentally friendly inks. It goes up like any other form of wallpaper.

Two of the four designs, officially licensed by BBC Worldwide, feature Matt Smith as the Doctor and Karen Gillan as Amy. Another includes images of the Doctor's legendary enemy the Daleks, surrounding the Tardis, while the fourth shows the dimensionally transcendental inside of the Tardis.

Price is £25 per square meter.

Walk for Lis

Posted: 12 Aug 2011 08:12 PM PDT

Edward Russell, the senior brand executive for Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures, is to undertake a 160 mile walk from the BBC's Upper Boat Studios in Wales to BBC Television Centre in London:

I'm walking in order to raise money for Meadow House Hospice. This NHS-funded facility recently cared for Elisabeth Sladen, known to many of you as Sarah Jane Smith from the TV series Doctor Who.

Like many of her fans and friends, I was deeply saddened by Lis' death in April 2011 and I hope to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful cause. More details and a target sum are to follow.

Starting on Saturday 3 September, I will walk from the BBC's Upper Boat studios in Cardiff (where SJA was filmed), aiming to arrive at the BBC Television Centre (where Lis first filmed Doctor Who) in London the following Friday. I will largely be following the National Cycling Route No. 4 - walking the equivalent of a marathon every day!

You can follow his preparations and progress for the walk via the WalkForLis blog, and there is also a Facebook group that you can join.

BBC iPlayer…Reborn!

Posted: 12 Aug 2011 07:30 PM PDT

The BBC are releasing a new and updated version of their iPlayer catch up service for you to enjoy Doctor Who, Torchwood and The Sarah Jane Adventures on!

This new iteration will be far more user friendly than the previous versions and will integrate into your television watching experience as easily as changing channels, or so the BBC claim.

Hold your horses before you scramble to load this up through your computer however, as the initial launch will be taking place on PlayStation 3 units only. Why this is the case is anyone's guess but maybe Sony paid just that little bit more in order to secure "first dibs" on the product.

BBC iPlayer has always been a great service that has ensured that no one need ever miss their favourite shows, it's also been a fantastic way to show anybody who feels that Doctor Who ratings are getting low that, in a nutshell, not everyone watches the show on the transmission date.

The idea behind the re-launch of iPlayer is to evolve it into a "complete connected TV experience". The BBC has already achieved this to a certain extent so it'll be interesting to see what they do now.
