The panel will be moderated by fan of the show, Chris Hardwick, who appeared on Craig Ferguson's The Late Late Show along with Matt Smith last year. Smith was then a guest on Hardwick's Nerdist Podcast 46. Neil Gaiman has written episode four of the new series which has Michael Sheen provide a voice-over for an as yet unnamed character. Mark Sheppard plays Canton Everett Delaware III in The Impossible Astronaut / Day of the Moon. These two opening episodes of the 2011 series have been directed by Toby Haynes and are due to be broadcast on BBC America on April 23rd. The panel will take place on Sunday April 3rd from 11:30-12:15 in the Esplanade Ballroom. More information can be found on the WonderCon website.

| Torchwood: Miracle Day - Poster and Airdate Posted: 23 Mar 2011 06:34 AM PDT TV features website; TV Line, have unveiled the promotional poster and airdate for Torchwood: Miracle Day. The new series will air on Friday 8th July 2011, as previously posted on the DWO News page. “Not a single person on Earth dies” Torchwood boss Russell T. Davies recently explained. “The old stay old. It’s great news for some people, but globally it’s an instant population boom. Earth relies on people dying. Suddenly you’re affecting everyone on the planet. That’s where the Torchwood team comes in.” And what a team it is. Joining Captain Jack (John Barrowman) and Gwen (Eve Myles) on their international crusade — which includes an extended stopover in Los Angeles — will be ER‘s Mekhi Phfifer and All My Children‘s Alexa Havins. The season 4 ensemble also includes Bill Pullman as the Big Bad and Six Feet Under‘s Lauren Ambrose as a no-nonsense PR expert. [Source: TV Line] | ||
| Torchwood: Miracle Day US Date / Poster Posted: 23 Mar 2011 06:07 AM PDT The US date for the fourth series of Torchwood, subtitled Miracle Day, has been announced. It will premiere Friday July 8th on Starz. There's no word on the exact UK date at the moment. Some promotional poster art was also released to accompany the news. Scroll down to see it. | ||

| Posted: 23 Mar 2011 06:04 AM PDT Great news on the scheduling front today – Torchwood Series 4 (known now as Miracle Day) will air in the USA on the Starz network in July, kicking off on 07.08.11 (note to people in the UK: that's July 8th, not August 7th). With this rather stomping logo and emblem heralding this fact today, the Starz network have released the news in order to tie in with some international TV sales fayre which we'll be telling you about later one. All you need to know that the premier date is sewn up in the USA, so let's hope that this show – which has done quite a bit of filming in Wales over the past few months as well as further afield – turns up around the same time in the UK. While it might be nice for Starz to get a bit of a head start as they're the new home network for the show, it did start over here, right? The presence of Torchwood as a 10-part show in July suggests that it will either run on consecutive nights over a couple of weeks or run for ten weeks. If it is the latter, particularly in the UK, this will provide an interesting "Whoniverse sandwich" with the Spring, Summer and Autumn comprising of Doctor Who, Torchwood, (probably) The Sarah Jane Adventures and Doctor Who again! | Posted: 23 Mar 2011 05:00 AM PDT The superb Northern Ninth Doctor by name of Christopher Eccleston is set to appear in an upcoming Westminster Abbey play about the creation of the King James Bible in this, the publication's 400th year in existence. In the Beginning uniquely features actors like Eccleston guiding audience members around the Abbey, where the translation of the KJB was completed in 1611, and performing some of the key moments in the story of the birth of this extremely popular version of the Bible, highlighting little-known trivia about the Abbey itself along the way. The premise might sound a bit dull to us fans of science nonfiction like Doctor Who, but hey, it's got Christopher Eccleston, so it must be good! The production also stars Tamsin Greig, the nurse/saleswoman/brain surgeon from Eccleston Who story The Long Game, as well as Ralf Little (The Royle Family) and Sharon Small (Mistresses, About a Boy). This isn't Eccleston's first foray into religion-related acting jobs. He portrayed a priest, albeit a slightly amorous one, in the 1993 film Anchoress. He narrated the first episode of the 2004 documentary series Bible Mysteries. The year before he notably portrayed Steven Baxter, the modern-day Son of God, in Russell T. Davies' pre-Who miniseries The Second Coming. Most recently and perhaps most famously, he slipped into the skin of God Himself, the full-frontal nudity version of John Lennon, in 2010′s Lennon Naked. Not to mention he played the Doctor a few years ago, who a lot of people seem to worship in this corner of the web. You can witness the forty-minute In the Beginning play/tour for yourself if you can make it to Westminster Abbey (in London, for any aliens reading this) TOMORROW (Thursday) anytime between 6:30 PM and 9:30 PM. There is a maximum of six people to a tour, so don't bring a whole bus of friends with you! Tickets are £25; for more information visit the Bush Theatre website. (via BBC News) | ||

| Revisitations 2 – Discs 1-2: The Seeds Of Death Posted: 23 Mar 2011 03:08 AM PDT
It is the 21st Century and Earth is totally dependant on T-Mat, a revolutionary form of instant travel. When the system breaks down the Doctor and friends make a hazardous journey to the relay station on the moon only to find that it has fallen into the hands of the Ice Warriors who plan to invade Earth. Can the Doctor outwit the evil Ice Warriors and destroy a lethal fungus in time to save a dying world. As a fan of Troughton's tenure obviously I'm going to champion this release. But for those who have still to try his work then start here, it shows how he made the role of the Doctor his own and how he had transformed the character almost entirely from Hartnell's version. Wonderfully directed by Brian Hayles, it's a serial that is as inventive as it is impressive. Shots such as the POV of the Ice Warrior at the start captures the unease and dread the story contains. OK, this wasn't a new idea for this series, but the effect it has on the viewer is pretty impressive. As you'd expect now the transfer of this adventure is quite stunning. The detail captured here is something to experience and the monochrome tones capture the sets, which at time are quite impressive. It does expose the limited budget such as the interior of the TARDIS and some of the effects Extras Disc 1 Info Text – The usual reliable educational subtitles for the story, packed with information about the production of the story. Coming Soon – An excellent trailer for Planet Of The Spiders, one of Pertwee's finest adventures.
Sssowing The Ssseedsss – Alan Bennion who played Slaar and Sonny Caldinez who was an Ice Warrior talk honestly about the production of the story from their point of view alongside costume designer Sylvia James. An audio interview from Bernard Bresslaw (who played Varga in The Ice Warriors) is also used which is an excellent addition and on the whole this is quite a gem of an extra. Monster Masterclass – Michael Ferguson returns to let us know what its like to direct people dressed as monsters in Doctor Who. Fascinating and far too short he touches on how many departments have to team up to deliver. Monsters Who Came Back For More! – A light and rather laboured look at some for the shows returning baddies. Nick Briggs and DWM assistant editor give us their views but I couldn't help think that this is included just to fill in some disc space. Photo Gallery – A collection of snaps from the production of the story accompanied by sound effects. One for the hardcore fans out there. TARDIS Cam No.6 – A model vignette created for the BBC website sometime back. Why it was created I don't know but it looks nice! PDF Materials – Pop the DVD into you PC or MAC and oogle the Radio Times listings from when this adventure was first shown. So even though the extras on this disc aren't as exciting as some recent Doctor Who adventures the story itself makes it a must have purchase. The Revisitations 2 boxset has an RRP of £39.99, but you can still order now from Amazon for just £29.93!
