| Australian premiere for The Impossible Astronaut confirmed Posted: 01 Apr 2011 10:45 AM PDT Australia joins the list of countries that have now confirmed the broadcast date for Matt Smith's second series of Doctor Who. TV Tonight have reported that ABC1 will premiere The Impossible Astronaut on Saturday 30th April at 7:30pm. The show will also be made available on the company's iView service (though there is no confirmation of if episodes will premier on the service like last year). An ABC spokesperson told the site: ABC TV has scheduled the new series of Doctor Who to screen Saturdays at 7.30pm on ABC1, which we believe is the best slot to reach the family audience. (We are) not able to broadcast Doctor Who until after it screens in the UK. So, in anticipation that the BBC will launch the new series over Easter in the UK, we have scheduled the series to start the following weekend. The BBC have yet to reveal when The Impossible Astronaut will premier in the UK - this is likely to be confirmed in a week's time via the Press Office's Programme Information Page, if not sooner. | ||

| Posted: 01 Apr 2011 08:42 AM PDT So with Doctor Who kicking off on April 23rd over in the USA on BBC America, you're probably wondering just what their version of the the Series 6 trailer looks like? Naturally it seems to heavily feature the opening two-parter, The Impossible Astronaut/Day of the Moon, which makes sense given that much of it was recorded in the USA. So look out for US TV stalwart Mark Sheppard, a British actor who is well known on US TV. It's quite a collection of images, isn't it? So to help you out with what you just saw, we've broken it down into frames, below… We've got two things to say: 1. Wow (Thanks to Rory!) | ||

| Posted: 01 Apr 2011 06:03 AM PDT With the continuing excellent sales of Doctor Who Adventures, which has collected a circulation of nearly 57,000 readers as of the second half of 2010, BBC Magazines recently announced the upcoming release of a new fortnightly partwork series featuring a magazine, trading cards, and other collectable fun stuff. Doctor Who: Monster Invasion, aimed at 8-12 year olds across the UK, will be made available around the same time that the new series of Doctor Who premieres. The first issue, at a discounted price of £1.50 (successive installments will be £2.60), comes with two packs of "monster" trading cards, a fold-out "alien slamdown" poster, and one-third of an interesting-sounding giant poster. Issues two and three include an additional pack of cards each, two parts of a TARDIS storage box, and the rest of that giant poster. Subscribers will get all of that plus a series of gifts included throughout their first five issues. In order, they are: four packs of monster cards, a Doctor Who magazine box file and a monster card "swaps box", a Doctor Who "Battle Pack" of monsters (which appears to be similar to those little green plastic toy soldiers as seen in Toy Story, except in the form of Daleks, Cybermen, and Sontarans, and they're not green), a squirtable sonic screwdriver, and a Doctor Who rucksack (great for university students!) Extra packs of the monster cards (who needs Pokémon?) will also find their way to the shops. Ceri Murray, Head of Partworks at BBC Magazines:
Doctor Who: Monster Invasion will set foot in retail stores in early May. Visit their website at doctorwhomi.com. | ||
