| Listings Synopses Hold Spoilers! Posted: 29 May 2011 05:03 AM PDT Ok, so we've had some enjoyment poking fun at spoilerphiles, but really, you lot need to be steering well clear of TV, newspapers and even listings magazines for the next 7 days (longer for North America) if you want to stay completely spoiler-free in advance of A Good Man Goes to War. Steven Moffat has clearly built up this series of Doctor Who into an impressive beast of multiple plot threads, most of which have been in plain sight without us even knowing, so even the slightest hint of facts could unlock the answers in your mind. After all, this is a mid-season finale with a cliffhanger that won't be resolved until later this year. That means big, bad, crazy things that you don't want to know, such as this snippet from the Sunday Times Culture supplement. Before we go on: my old man and I occasionally play a fun game with the Sunday Times listings in the Culture magazine, called "Guess the Movie", in which my Dad reads out an extremely vague plot summary from aforementioned publication, and I have to guess the movie. An example might be "A young orphan dreams of leaving his uncle's farm," which you might find as the complete description of Star Wars. Such vagueness did not occur in their summary for A Good Man Goes to War, however, which is why you will need click the little plus symbol below to find the small secrets that they share. Sunday Times Synopsis for A Good Man Goes to War Amy now has a baby, but she and Melody are held captive in the season finale by panto-style villainess Madame Kovarian (Frances Barber). So the Doctor recruits a posse for a battle River Song calls his "darkest hour". There are bewildering moments, but plenty of fun, too and an arresting denouement. Remember, professional listings magazines have preview discs, too, so watch out for any screengrabs and spoilerific facts laced into interviews – in fact, stay away from newsagents, TV and the world wide web until the episode ends! | Muppets (and Relative Dimension) In Space! Posted: 28 May 2011 08:37 PM PDT It's time to put on make up. It's time to dress up right. It's time to get things started on the most sensational, inspirational, celebrational, muppetational; this is what we call the Muppet's do Who! In an inspired bit of awesome someone has mashed together the felt and ping pong ball eyed world of The Muppets with the Whoinverse and presented The Muppets as the Eleven Doctors! Everyone's favourites (well not mine; where's Gorgon Heap!) are all present and correct; Kermit as the Fifth Doctor, Gonzo as the Eighth Doctor, Fozzy as the Sixth Doctor and Miss Piggy as the Third Doctor (missing out on emulating a famous putdown by Patrick Troughton against his Two Doctor's co-star Colin Baker) Despite leaving out on that little bit of geeky in joke-dom I think I speak for most by saying these are pretty cool – particularly Beaker as the Tenth Doctor who is now finally ginger! | Torchwood: Clash of the Nations Posted: 28 May 2011 07:04 PM PDT Torchwood: Miracle Day is putting 'The Special Relationship' between the UK and the States through the wringer according to show creator Russell T. Davies, who has said he wrote the show to 'clash.' Speaking to SFX Davies said the show, a co-production between the US based Starz Network and the non-more British BBC, was pitched to have the new members of the cross Atlantic co-stars, particularly the swaggering blokey CIA man mountain, Rex Matheson, clashing like Kraft and Cheddar.
The former Commander in Chief of Doctor Who was initially concerned that the move to the US would be too jarring for audiences after three seasons of Cardiff based tomfoolery:
Fans need not worry that the shift to the States will have changed there beloved show. Despite all the excitement of a trip abroad the show will still be as Torchwood as standing on a high ledge and looking moody:
Though you can bet your bottom dolar/pound on there being a few 'meet and greet' scenes for Captain Jack (John Barrowman) and Gwen when the show airs in the US on the 8th July on the Starz network. However there has been no official air date for the UK from the BBC for the so far. | ||
