Delicious Digital Trailer Music Posted: 26 Feb 2010 06:39 AM PST Wondering why the latest Doctor Who trailer didn't have the famous theme tune until the very end? Delicious Digital are the team behind the soundtrack to the new Doctor Who promo which we first saw last Saturday night on BBC and which is set to appear in cinemas across the country in the next few weeks accompanying Disney's Alice in Wonderland. According to 4rfv.co.uk, leading music house Delicious Digital were invited by the BBC and Red Bee Media to pitch on both Doctor Who and the recent EastEnders 25th anniversary promos. The Doctor Who trailer was quite different to anything we've seen before - not the introduction to the Eleventh Doctor era fans were expecting, but something new and different. Red Bee Media Creative Director James Spence praised Delicious Digital, remarking:
We think they did the job perfectly.

Posted: 26 Feb 2010 12:34 AM PST Doctor Who has had a remarkable effect on the creativity of its fans over the years - many of those involved since the late 1980s have been fans and it is well known that the current and previous showrunner - Steven Moffat and Russell T Davies - are fans. Kasterborous itself was built out of love for Doctor Who by a wannabe writer (hiya!) and a graphic designer who went on to work on Doctor Who DVD packaging - but sadly not all examples of Time Lord-inspired creativity are equal. "Verse for Doctor Who", for example, appeared in the Shields Gazette recently, written by a Mr Johnson of South Shields. While I am reluctant to criticize a piece that starts off well (certainly well enough to be published, unless the organ is bereft of other submissions) it is an example of something that could perhaps have done with a bit more work. At the very least, it is a bit forced - for instance:
Now as weak links go, this couplet is it - artistic licence aside, what "elfin-like creatures from the planet Gallifrey" is Mr Johnson talking about? Did I miss some part of The End of Time? Now of course it is very nice to see something like "Verse for Doctor Who" in print - and well done to Mr Johnson - but it strikes me there should be more Doctor Who inspired poetry on top of the various art, novels, fanfic, websites and Time Lord Rock that we see around us.
Posted: 25 Feb 2010 11:47 PM PST Friday 5th March sees the launch of National Doodle Day 2010, the seventh event organised by the charities Epilepsy Action and The Neurofibromatosis Association. A number of doodles from celebrities will be auctioned to help raise money to help those afflicted by those illnesses, and this year sees illustrations by Doctor Who companions Catherine Tate, Bernard Cribbins and Elisabeth Sladen, as well as other guests from the show like Michelle Ryan and Russell Tovey. It is also possible to vote for your favourite celebrity doodle. In previous years, celebrities doodles have included those by Peter Davison, Colin Baker, and Louise Jameson; many of these can be purchased on t-shirts and other items in support of the charities from PhotoBox. The auction starts on Ebay from 5th March, and a full list of the celebrity doodles are available on the National Doodle Day website.

Posted: 25 Feb 2010 10:43 PM PST According to reports in tabloid boob-fest The Sun, an interesting Doctor Who scene from season 31 has been seemingly blown out of all proportion into some sort of major "plot development". We'll naturally avoid printing it here in full view of innocent, spoiler-avoiding eyes, but the spoiler in question concerns the episode written by Simon Nye (the man responsible for Men Behaving Badly) and concerns Karen Gillan's character Amy Pond, the Eleventh Doctor's new companion. To say that there is an obvious opportunity for some "Doctor Behaving Badly" headlines here is understating things - however no one knows at this stage how the situation below transpires…
Simon Nye in fact has good form for dream sequences - several appeared throughout the run of Men Behaving Badly including a fake wedding which took a particular turn for the worse… (Via Digital Spy)
