Posted: 27 Feb 2010 07:07 AM PST Classic Doctor Who adventures went live last week at SeeSaw, one of several online repositories of vintage television. As a rival to Hulu, Seesaw is offering just television as opposed to some of its competitors - but with YouTube and MSN offering Doctor Who as well, it seems as though once sought after content is now cheap as chips. Episodes from the series original 1963-1989 run available on Seesaw are The Space Museum, Tomb of the Cybermen, Planet of the Spiders, The Talons of Weng-Chiang, The Caves of Androzani, Mark of the Rani, and Survival. SeeSaw started life as Project Kangaroo, a joint venture between BBC Worldwide, Channel 4 and ITV that was blocked due to industry competition rules, and was later purchased by Arqiva, the company running Britain's television masts. Offering 3000 hours of BBC, Channel 4 and Channel Five programming (with ITV rumoured to be sealing deals elsewhere) the idea behind Seesaw is that a new classic is presented every day.
…says John Keeling, the SeeSaw platform controller. It is likely however that classic Doctor Who could be a weapon in a war between different on-demand, online viewing platforms. Ian Maude, of Enders Analysis, reckons SeeSaw could be in for a tough opening.
Citing that only 5% of Virgin Media's viewing figures are for on-demand content, it seems that competition in this niche industry is likely to be fierce…

Posted: 27 Feb 2010 06:04 AM PST Sunday, 7th March sees the Royal Liverpool Philarmonic Orchestra perform an event titled Out of This World - an afternoon of music from popular sci-fi universes such as Doctor Who! With music from the series as well as Star Wars and an orchestral tribute to Star Trek, the 1969 moon landing is also remembered with music from Holst's Planets Suite. Alasdair Malloy runs the RLPO's Schools Concerts.
Speaking as a lover of classical music, this is a great way to tune a younger generation into the beauty of the orchestral sound. Out of This World begins at 2.30pm on Sunday, 7th March with tickets £5 for children and £7-12 for adults. For more information contact the Philarmonic Hall on 0151 709 3789.

These dolls might be retreading ground already covered by Character Options, but there's an improvement in the level of detail - a considerable improvement in fact as these are quality dolls. You might even describe them as "luxury" given the prices. With the Tenth Doctor, Martha Jones, Captain Jack Harkness and Gwen Cooper available, these dolls retail at $170-180! Genuine fabric clothing (plus an optional Tenth Doctor overcoat for $50) make these must have items - while the likenesses aren't 100% precise the level of detail in the facial features is remarkable. Posted: 26 Feb 2010 07:00 PM PST Former Doctor Who companion Frazer Hines - Jamie McCrimmon himself - spoke to The Peverett Phile recently as part of promotion of the new edition of his autobiography, Hines Sight. It's quite a long interview, you'll be pleased to know and with plenty in it, so we won't spoil too much of it here - however as always there is a favourite bit:
Shortly after, Frazer was cast as Jamie, and the rest of course is history. The interview is good fun and features mentions of Big Finish, Frazer's book, TV series Emmerdale (which Hines was once a main character in) and his "pop career"… Don't forget - Hines Sight, is currently available for £25.00 (plus p&) - signed copies can be purchased from www.frazerhines.co.uk!
