Featuring images of Matt Smith as the Eleventh Doctor fumbling with a mobile phone (possibly a BlackBerry), putting Rory (Arthur Darvill) in his place as well as a few behind the scenes snaps, there are currently four images available on the popular cult TV and movie blog. If you're after some Eleventh Doctor eyecandy, hop on over there now!
Viewers “Won’t be disappointed” Posted: 12 Mar 2010 06:57 AM PST Creative Consultant for BBC Books' range of Doctor Who books, Justin Richards, has revealed to the Coventry Telegraph that viewers "won't be disappointed" by the new Doctor, Matt Smith. Richards - whose Apollo 23 is one of the first Eleventh Doctor novels - says that while values remain and mannerisms change from Doctor to Doctor, you can only get so much from the scripts. While he doesn't say as much, it seems as though he's had a sneak peek at least one early edit.
Apollo 23 is released on April 22nd.

Posted: 12 Mar 2010 05:10 AM PST Following the recent news that a new series of The Sarah Jane Adventures is set to enter production, Executive Producer Nikki Wilson has spoken to Digital Spy about the future of the series. The interview features plenty to read, but in brief: - "It's Russell's baby" - despite his new existence in the USA, the former Doctor Who exec is involved all the way with scripts and storylines, as well as providing notes on edits. - The two series commission provided an opportunity to character development over a two season arc, something that hasn't happened with the series in the past. - Although two series have been commissioned and shooting starts in a few weeks, they are not being filmed back to back - a break later this year will result in series 5 being completed in 2011. - There are also new monsters:

David Tennant on Playing the Doctor Posted: 12 Mar 2010 01:45 AM PST Former Doctor Who star David Tennant appears in the current edition of Virgin Media's electric! magazine, available free for subscribers of their cable services. In the interview - which covers everything from the Manic Street Preachers to Hamlet - Tenth Doctor Tennant is asked the expected questions about the upcoming new Doctor Who star, Matt Smith, as well as how he himself approached playing the Time Lord back in 2005.
Rumours that Tennant expects to return in 60 years to play the Doctor as a 96-year-old man in a wheelchair are so far unfounded…

Posted: 12 Mar 2010 12:00 AM PST In her recent interview and modelling shoot in the fashion magazine InStyle, Karen Gillan has revealed that while the Eleventh Doctor might not be ginger, she certainly is - and the new Doctor Who companion was once bullied over the colour of her hair. As we know, hair colour is hair colour - some of us are blonde, others red, some jet black, while others have varying shades of brown. We're all different, and this sort of petty hair prejudice is ridiculous. Yet it happens, daily, and has done for years.
Worryingly, Karen attempted to avoid the jibes by dyeing her her - but the parents of the future Amy Pond weren't impressed.
Karen Gillan is clearly absolutely gorgeous - I suspect the bullies aren't.

Posted: 11 Mar 2010 10:35 PM PST Speaking to SFX (the newly released issue 194 with the superb lenticular cover) new Doctor Who star Matt Smith revealed that his look as the Doctor is one that will "constantly eveolve" - just as well, given he successfully talked Steven Moffat out of dressing him like Johnny Depp in Pirates of the Caribbean. Matt Smith continues to impress in interviews - other than throwing himself into some of the classic Doctor Who (such as Tomb of the Cybermen) since he was cast, his knowledge of the series is limited, yet he always seems to say the right thing. He's keen that the Eleventh Doctor doesn't have a costume, for instance.
Some fans have decried the look of the new Doctor as being cliched or obvious - even Steven Moffat acknowledges that the Eleventh Doctor appears to be dressed in a way someone who doesn't really know the show might expect him to be dressed - but look at it this way. Matt Smith is evidently extremely comfortable with this look in contrast to the "pirate look" that he was apparently unhappy with. Given that he isn't decked out in question marks, I think we've got a good deal here…
Posted: 11 Mar 2010 10:35 PM PST With Series 5 now just a few short weeks away, we’re getting ready for the Doctor and Amy’s new adventures in time and space with a much-needed site upgrade! Doctor Who Nintendo game in development? Posted: 11 Mar 2010 09:48 PM PST A brand new Doctor Who game is set to be released on the Nintendo Wii and DS platforms just in time for Christmas, if a report published by The Sun is to believed. Posted: 11 Mar 2010 09:27 PM PST BBC Radio 7 will be broadcasting a number of Doctor Who related programmes in their 7th Dimension science fiction segment in the coming months. The memoirs of Barry Letts will be broadcast over seven weeks from the end of March; "Barry Letts - Who and Me" is read by the late producer himself, delving into his career up to and including Doctor Who. (The autobiography is still currently available in print from publisher Fantom Films.) In April, three BBC Audio Books will be broadcast; The Giant Robot, The Brain of Morbius, Creature from the Pit are all adaptations of the original Target novelisations, and are read by the 'Doctor' himself, Tom Baker. The 7th Dimension is presented by the modern voice of the Daleks and Cybermen, Nicholas Briggs; the strand in the past has often featured Doctor Who, including new adventures for the Eighth Doctor as portrayed by Paul McGann.

Posted: 11 Mar 2010 07:30 PM PST Reports today indicate that BBC Worldwide have agreed a £10million deal to bring a Doctor Who videogame to the Nintendo Wii and DS platforms. Such a game would be the first Doctor Who videogame since Destiny of the Doctors (pictured here) in 1998, and would need to fit into the shows ethos. BBC Worldwide are aware that the Doctor isn't a caped vigilante.
Our recent report that the BBC are looking to captilise on Doctor Who's success by entering the videogames market seems only told a part of the story it seems - according to former Doctor David Tennant, a game was already actively developed.

“Matt is Completely Incredible” Posted: 11 Mar 2010 06:30 PM PST Doctor Who star Karen Gillan has nothing but praise for her co-star Matt Smith, who she believes has done something completely incredible with his interpretation of the Time Lord. Her opinion - while that of a newcomer to the series - should be accepted with some gravity. After all, her mother is a big Doctor Who fan.
So why does Karen feel that a man she describes as "like an annoying older brother - but annoying in a brilliant way" on set has made such a remarkable Doctor?
It's difficult to tell at this stage - all we have are clips, and we're still outsiders. Yet reading interviews in Doctor Who Magazine and the new SFX, it does seem as though everyone is very happy with the new star - and fans aare likely to warm to him given his alleged reluctance to wear a pirate outfit in favour of the look he developed in 20 minutes. Could we be about to meet another fantastic Doctor?
Posted: 11 Mar 2010 05:30 PM PST She's young, sexy and she's the Doctor's new companion - Karen Gillan was bound to be chatting to BBC Radio 1 and its lowbrow Newsbeat bulletin about Doctor Who sooner or later, wasn't she? Gillan - Amy Pond in the new series - has revealed her anxiety about the launch of Doctor Who in 2010. She's "completely nervous" apparently, although in fairness she's pretty confident about her own character.
That might remind you of someone the Doctor travelled with until relatively recently, although of course the comparisons with Catherine Tate's Donna Noble were always going to be there when Steven Moffat's team cast a redhead. Speaking of the forthcoming UK tour to promote the series, Gillan said:
Hmmm. Stay clear of Richard E Grant…
