Posted: 26 Apr 2010 10:13 AM PDT The BBC has formally replied to the complaints received over the Nortongate incident. The response goes further than the statement issued by a spokesman yesterday which just apologised for the timing of the caption. The formal response admits the caption was wrong and promises it will not happen again. The BBC statement says The Over the Rainbow trail in Doctor Who should not have played out on Saturday and we apologise to all Doctor Who fans whose enjoyment of the show was disrupted. We recognise the strength of feeling that has been expressed and are taking steps to ensure that this mistake will not happen again. It is understood that the instruction to run the caption was made by BBC One management and was made without consulting the programme's producers or senior management at BBC Wales.

The new issue previews The Vampires of Venice, Amy's Choice and episode eight which now has the confirmed title, The Hungry Earth (previously rumoured as The Ground Beneath Their Feet). The Hungry Earth is the first in a two-part story written by Chris Chibnall and features the return of classic series monsters the Silurians. The reptilian creatures were last seen in Doctor Who 26 years ago in 1984's Warriors of the Deep. Issue #421 is out on Thursday.
Posted: 26 Apr 2010 08:01 AM PDT Flesh and Stone is part two of the Doctor Who story started with The Time of Angels – and with the Doctor, Amy, River Song and friends trapped, things are looking pretty bleak. After all, they're surrounded by Weeping Angels – and this one in particular is on the way… While we can't tell you what happens next, there are a few hints floating around the web, such as on Digital Spy, where they've published a list of eleven Doctor Who teasers. We've pinched some of the most interesting ones below:
Flesh and Stone stars Matt Smith as the Doctor, Karen Gillan as Amy Pond, Alex Kingston as River Song with Iain Glen as Father Octavius, is written by Steven Moffat and airs on Saturday, 1st May at 6.25 on BBC One. Check back later this week for a spoiler free review, right here on Kasterborous!

Via the blog of dubbing consultant Thierry Attard, we can see that a great cast has been assembled, with David Manet returning as the Tenth Doctor, supported by Daniel Dury is Wilf and Franck Dacquin – who voices Sam Tyler in the French dub of Life on Mars, is the Master. Meanwhile, Belgian stage actor Philippe RĂ©simont, is the Chancellor, and Patrick Donnay (also the voice of James Nesbitt in Murphy's Law) is the Narrator/Lord President. The regenerated Eleventh Doctor is voiced by Marc Weiss – for full details, find the complete cast list at Thierry Attard's blog! (Many thanks to AurĂ©lie Demonchaux)

Posted: 25 Apr 2010 10:52 PM PDT 6.6m viewers tuned in to watch Doctor Who on Saturday evening, with The Time of Angels taking a 35.3% share of the available audience, according to overnight figures Around 200,000 more viewers tuned in to catch the return of the Weeping Angels, River Song and Graham Norton than made the effort to watch Victory of the Daleks on the night, although any figures at this stage can only be an indication and not a true result. Once iPlayer and other "delayed viewing" figures have been factored in, the full story will emerge. Earlier examples this season have seen around 2m viewers watching the show upon repeat, on iPlayer or SKY+. There is every chance that the latest episode from Steven Moffat and starring Matt Smith, Alex Kingston and Karen Gillan will prove very popular on BBC iPlayer in particular, and end up being the top rated episode of the series so far. Given the high reputation of the episode already – it received an Appreciation Index of 87 – The Time of Angels is already shaping up to be a classic. Find out what we thought in our review.

Posted: 25 Apr 2010 10:19 PM PDT The Time of Angels scored an Appreciation Index figure of 87, the highest of the series so far. The AI or Appreciation Index or AI score is a measure of how much an audience enjoyed a programme. The score was the highest of the day on either of the two main channels. Doctor Who Confidential had an AI figure of 84. The BBC has updated its story on the controversial trail for Over the Rainbow which spoiled the cliff-hanger for many, reporting that, so far, 5,583 complaints have now been received. The children's news programme Newsround is also asking for viewers feelings on the intrusion.

Posted: 25 Apr 2010 06:34 PM PDT Doctor Who guest star Alex Kingston has revealed how she watched the series as a little girl – through a crack in a door… Kingston – the enigmatic River Song in the series – revealed that she is scared of Daleks and even as a grown woman has flashbacks to some Daleks in the London Underground (which we can only suppose is 1972's Day of the Daleks as the actress is too young to clearly remember the 1964 serial Dalek Invasion of Earth…)
Kingston returns as River Song in Flesh and Stone the second half of the current two-part adventure this Saturday at 6.25pm on BBC One.
Posted: 25 Apr 2010 05:29 PM PDT Doctor Who companion Karen Gillan has revealed how her role as Amy Pond is not particularly glamourous – although presumably the former model doesn't mind that much as she's a down to earth Scot! Of course, the low glamour moment must have come in The Beast Below, where the scene Karen describes as "lying in a pool of sick with cabbage in it" occurs.
Of her co-star Matt Smith – whom Gillan appears to get on with great – she said:
