I Would Walk 5000 Myles…

Posted: 05 Jul 2011 06:37 AM PDT

Torchwood: Miracle Day star Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper) has told Collider about the moments she found out she'd be getting a free trip to the states the series would be filming in America.

Upon learning the news that Starz would be performing an Eliza Doolittle – taking in our tatty, unkempt English show, showing it some manners and then letting it blow stuff up with welling paternal pride – she was near silent for two hours:

"I had my little baby looking at me and I had my dog and my partner, and he was like, 'Well?!' And I said, 'I'm going to go do some washing up. I'm going to wash up some dishes, I'm going to take a shower and I'm going to have to have a think about things. It's just too much to actually vocalize.' So, I came down after about two hours and I literally hopped around with excitement for about 40 minutes."

Like Gwen herself Eve's loyalty to Torchwood is unbroken despite having to move her burgeoning family stateside for the shoot:

"It's fantastic. The people have been so welcoming and kind, and Starz has been incredible. We all are having a ball. I love it here. I can't tell you how pleased I am to be here and to be representing such an awesome production. What a treat everybody has doing it. It's going to be great. It's strange because this will be the fourth [season] of the show that I've been involved in, but it feels like the first because we are here, we've got a fantastic, brand-new cast, and we've got a new story to tell again. It just keeps re-inventing itself."

I'd like to think that she de-briefed the puppy Torchwood style when she got it… It knew the risks going in…

Worlds in Time to be Cross-Platform MMO?

Posted: 05 Jul 2011 02:00 AM PDT

Further details about the upcoming Doctor Who MMORPG (basically an online role playing game similar in style to World of Warcraft) titled Worlds in Time have been released by developers Three Rings!

The game, which will surely prove to be popular for fans and non-fans alike, the game will see the player fully immersed in the Whoniverse and all that that entails.

MMORPG's basically enable a player to create an avatar to represent them in a game, they then have a free roaming world within which to interact with other players and computer controlled characters as well. Star Wars and Lord of the Rings have had some successful games like this that they have released in the past and it's about time that Doctor Who joined the gang!

The game is in its early stages and details are being kept under wraps at the moment but this much was announced:

"In the game, players from around the world will be able to follow in the steps of the brilliant Doctor by travelling through time and space, exploring new worlds and encountering many alien races, both friend and foe…the game allows players to enter the TARDIS and be set a challenge by the mysterious Time Lord to help him defend civilized culture against infamous Doctor Who enemies."

Interestingly, Three Rings are currently listing an Engineer's role specifically for this game on their website which reveals:

Doctor Who: Worlds in Time is an Adobe Flash-based MMO game being developed in conjunction with BBC Worldwide. The game is based on the successful UK sci-fi series, Doctor Who.

Three Rings engineers have the opportunity to participate across all levels of the game creation process and to work on a wide variety of different types of games, from 3D MMOs to Flash games, from the PC to tablets and phones.

So as you can see, there is a possibility that Worlds in Time will be cross-platform!

Either way, this is going to be a very exciting release and one that all gaming fans and Doctor Who fans are going to want to be involved in; as we know more details we'll let you know.

No Eighth Doctor for Anniversary?

Posted: 04 Jul 2011 06:20 PM PDT

Digital Spy are currently implying that former Doctor Who star Paul McGann has signalled his reluctance to appear as the eighth incarnation of the Time Lord in any future anniversary reunion episodes, following an interview with Official London Theatre.

They have also titled the story "'Doctor Who' too big for me, says Paul McGann", despite being unable to back this statement up with an actual quote.

A quick read through the actual interview reveals no discussion of returning to Doctor Who, nor of the show being "too big", simply of the relief with which McGann managed to avoid the endless press exposure of his Time Lord descendants, something that probably wouldn't have happened in 1996.

McGann was asked about the adulation that fellow stage actor and ex-Time Lord David Tennant receives following his departure from Doctor Who, in a brief comparison between the two eras.

As such, he has escaped – "and I mean escaped" – the almost fanatical adulation that accompanied tenth Doctor David Tennant during his five years with the show.

"He's fantastic of course and he's obviously got a great sense of humour about everything. Chris [Eccleston], I think, seemingly found it tricky. I think I probably would have been more like Chris. I like my privacy."

Paul McGann is currently starring with Dominic West in Simon Gray's Butley at London's Duchess Theatre.
