Amazon UK has given a UK release date for Series 4 as 14 November 2011. One day, nobody dies. All across the world, nobody dies. And then the next day, and the next, and the next, people keep ageing - they get hurt and sick - but they never die. The result: a population boom, overnight. With all the extra people, resources are finite. It's said that in four month's time, the human race will cease to be viable. But this can't be a natural event – someone's got to be behind it. It's a race against time as C.I.A. agent Rex Matheson investigates a global conspiracy. The answers lie within an old, secret British institute. As Rex keeps asking "What is Torchwood?" he's drawn into a world of adventure, and a threat to change what it means to be human, forever. | Posted: 05 Jul 2011 11:30 PM PDT Fans of Captain Cheese need not worry, but if you are one of those people baffled by BBC One's habit of offering viewers a season of John Barrowman once or twice a year – when the talented singer, actor and presenter manages to appear on multiple shows at the same time – it's time to be careful when you tune in. The star of Torchwood will be returning to BBC One this Saturday evening with a new series of his "dream-maker" show Tonight's the Night, followed the week later with the UK premier of the Hollywood-flavoured Torchwood: Miracle Day. In the meantime, however, you can also As if all of that wasn't enough, and just to make sure we gave you an interesting headline, it seems that Mr

| Posted: 05 Jul 2011 11:16 PM PDT Boom! Crash! Arrgghhh! (plummets into worlds deepest fountain) "I'm Captain Jack Harkness" As introductions go there's not many that stand above ole Jack's (John Barrowman) meet and great with Torchwood: Miracle Day newbie Esther Drummond (Alexa Havins) So it comes as no surprise that the Beeb have used this and two other exciting clips (hosted at Daily Motion due to pesky region blocking…grrr!) to introduce the modern day Captain Scarlet to American audiences on the eve of the shows return on July 8th. The second clip see the now damp pair discussing the origins of the Torchwood institute – don't get excited, the Doctor isn't mentioned – where Esther learns that the former agency policed more than the just the strange terrestrial occurrences. While the third and final clip sees Oswald Danes (Bill Pullman, who is probably going to steal the show this season) tying a government representative up in metaphorical ropes as he worms his way out of any wrong-doing for his 'successful' execution; also it confirms that Danes as a paedophile, something that went missing from his official character summary for awhile. So there's action, intrigue and someone to love/hate. It's dead exciting, and you can view it below: Torchwood: Miracle Day begins stateside 8th July at 10 pm ET/PT and 14th July at 9 pm on BBC 1 in the UK. | Posted: 05 Jul 2011 09:54 PM PDT There is a little known fact in the Who-verse. Sontarans are funny. We have always known they looked funny but recently we have been seeing that they have a sense of humour about them as well. We saw this in A Good Man Goes to War and now with the first audio in the Fifth's Doctors newest trilogy Heroes of Sontar The episode starts off almost immediately where the Cradle of the Snake left off. Tegan is still recovering from the influence of the Mara so the Doctor takes her, Nyssa and Turlough to a peaceful haven on planet Samur called the Citadel for some peace and quiet. When has that ever worked for the Doctor? What happens is three plots begin to intertwine together. The Citadel is now uninhabitable and covered in a green everything-eating-moss that infects Nyssa, a platoon of Sontarans arrive on the planet with sealed orders from their Field Marshall, and to top it all off everybody get attacked by ghost who speak of a cursed Sontaran. The three storylines seem random and unconnected, at first, but as thing progress you begin to find out how things slowly click together. Breaking that all-powerful rule in Dungeons and Dragons, Heroes of Sontar splits the party time travelling party, but with a good outcome. Seven Sontarans land on the planet and begin to split up, eventually pairing off with one each for the Doctor and his companions. This helps show us the individual personalities of each of the Sontaran platoon members. This brings us to the strength of the episode. The Sontarans. This episode does what other Sontarans stories do not. The first is this story is heavily built on the racial qualities of the Sontarans. Unlike stories like The Sontaran Stratagem and The Poison Sky where very little knowledge of the Sontarans is needed to enjoy the episode Heroes of Sontar needs a little more knowledge behind it. The second original aspect is the above mentioned fact that the Sontarans are the people needing saving. We've all know how it plays out, the Doctor lands and we meet a series of new character that need the Doctors help before their die horribly. Things never turn out well for most of them. In this episode it is the members of the Sontaran platoon are being haunted, hunted and killed by a series of ghost called the Witch-Guards. The Sontarans are cursed and the Witch-Guards are here to collect. This makes the Sontarans, of all things, humans. We care for them; they feel emotions and fear, we want them to survive and much like Commander Strax, we feel sad when they die. Heroes of Sontar is a great start for the 2011 Fifth Doctor trilogy. It is a great story that nobody, especially fans of the Sontaran race, should miss. Head over to BigFinish.com to find out more about this and other Doctor Who audio titles! | ||
