| Radio Times: Let's Kill Hitler Posted: 22 Aug 2011 10:08 AM PDT The magazine features an exclusive episode guide by head writer Steven Moffat, which finally reveals the titles for the concluding two episodes of the series, Closing Time and The Wedding of River Song. There are also interviews with Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Alex Kingston. Here, Matt and Karen talk about the downside of fame: Matt Smith: Getting the Tube is difficult, as is going to a festival. Often it's just too hot to wear a hood for four hours. It's not a problem; it's just how it is. Karen Gillan: You're away from where you live nine months of the year so you don't get to see your friends or your partner as much as you'd like or your family. But it's worth it, so worth it, because you get to be in Doctor Who. You can read a sample from the episode guide on the Radio Times website. The website also offers a review of last week's preview for Let's Kill Hitler, and an interview with Mark Gatiss on the following week's episode, Night Terrors. | ||

| Matt and Karen in the Radio Times Posted: 22 Aug 2011 10:00 AM PDT This week's Radio Times (on sale today) has an exclusive Doctor Who episode guide by executive producer Steven Moffat. It's all part of the build up to Series 6 – and we're delighted to see that once again the Doctor is firmly ensconced on the cover! Also in the Radio Times, you'll find interviews with Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Alex Kingston, where Gillan and Smith talk about the downside of fame:
Radio Times also includes full listings for pretty much any TV or radio channel you can think of. Other listings magazines are available, but they're not usually as full of Doctor Who stuff! (With thanks to Neelam.) | ||

| Posted: 22 Aug 2011 08:03 AM PDT Doctor Who has won its fifth Hugo Award in the history of the ceremony for the Series 5 finale The Pandorica Opens and The Big Bang. The award for Best Dramatic Presentation (Short Form) also marks the fourth time that Steven Moffat has picked up a gong- he had previously won for The Empty Child/The Doctor Dances, The Girl in the Fireplace and the peerless Blink. The concluding two parter also beat Doctor Who episodes Vincent and the Doctor and A Christmas Carol as well as the picture book The Lost Thing by Shaun Tan and, bizarrely, the viral hit F##k Me, Ray Bradbury by Rachael Bloom. Outside of the land of the cathode ray the Best Related Work award was nabbed by Chicks Dig Time Lords. Edited by Lynne M. Thomas and Tara O'Shea, the title pretty much describes what the book is about apart! The Hugo Awards – designed to celebrate achievement in both Science Fiction and Fantasy – have been running since 1955 and are named after Hugo Gernsback, the founder of the pioneering Sci-Fi magazine Amazing Stories.

| The Categories of Life: Final ratings Posted: 22 Aug 2011 05:27 AM PDT The programme was the 19th highest rated on BBC One for the week. While the rating was similar to previous weeks the chart placing was much lower because of the exceptionally high ratings achieved by news programmes during the periods of civil disturbance in several English cities which occurred at the start of the week The final result includes those who recorded the programme and watched it within 7 days. It does not include those watching on iPlayer. Episode Six, The Middle Men, had an AI score of 85. | ||

| Posted: 22 Aug 2011 02:22 AM PDT Coming soon from Big Finish: the third season of the Lost Stories. While the first series provided some stories planned for the aborted season twenty-four and the second run brought to life tales from the potential season twenty-seven alongside some classic lost Hartnell and Troughton serials, the next eight releases feature an assortment of Doctors and companions from four eras of the show. The first three Lost Stories this time reunite Fifth Doctor Peter Davison with companions Tegan (Janet Fielding) and Nyssa (Sarah Sutton). The Elite, Hexagora and The Children of Seth are all full-cast adventures and feature, amongst other guest stars, Jacqueline Pearce, David Warner, Honor Blackman, Ryan Sampson and Toby Hadoke. These are released from October to December this year. After a short break, things pick up in May with The Guardians of Prophecy, Power Play and The First Sontarans, starring Sixth Doctor Colin Baker and Peri (Nicola Bryant). Simon Williams and Stephen Thorne feature in Guardians, while Power Play sees the return of Deborah Watling as Victoria. The First Sontarans, by Full Circle and The Invasion of E-Space writer Andrew Smith, takes us for a journey to the earliest days of the warrior race. The season rounds off with the oft-requested The Masters of Luxor, originally planned to be the second ever Doctor Who story (performed by William Russell and Carole Ann Ford), and a lost Donald Tosh masterpiece, The Rosemariners, brought to vivid life by Frazer Hines and Wendy Padbury. All these titles are available to pre-order individually, or you can take out CD or download subscriptions. | ||

| Elisabeth Sladen: The Autobiography Posted: 21 Aug 2011 10:16 PM PDT
Taking Elisabeth's completed draft and with the support of her husband Brian Miller and daughter, Sadie, Aurum Press will now publish Elisabeth's memoirs this November, after postponing the book following Lis Sladen's sad death. Giving full account of her humble beginnings in post-war Liverpool, her joyful career in Theatre and her unexpected status as a TV icon and role model for generations of Doctor Who fans. In the process the book explores the far from glamorous side of TV's golden age, the strange world of Doctor Who fandom and just what it was like to step back onboard the TARDIS after 30 years away. Elisabeth Sladen's editor at Aurum, Sam Harrison, said:

| Posted: 21 Aug 2011 09:21 PM PDT Today's opener in the Gallifreyan Worlds Series saw a debacle in sport that left many questioning whether Time Lords should to be allowed to play competitive sport at all. Each time the Mondasian Silverskins struck a home run a Type-60 TARDIS conspicuously appeared at the exact boundary whereupon points would have been scored. A player then appeared at the door of the craft (disguised as a hot-dog stand), caught the ball then threw it back to the pitcher to play the runner out. Further confusion and disarray followed as the Citadel Cardinals locked the entire match in a temporal loop to render the result obsolete as they had winning score before the game had actually started. Accusations that the match referee was actually a future regeneration of the Cardinal's Captain have also yet to be refuted. Anti-time warping and reality-bending rules have been in force since the infamous singularity incident, although there had been rumours for some months that Cardinals manager Rassilon was considering protesting against this, pointing out that all other teams are allowed to play to their strengths, so why shouldn't his? League officials were believed to have been called in to investigate, however there has been little sign of them since their closed doors meeting with Rassilon. When asked about the meeting, the Citadel Cardinals boss and founder of Time Lord society revealed that the chat had been constructive but short, noting that the league representatives had to "run a gauntlet" to oversee the evening match between the Macra Marauders and the Plastic Mickeys. All this in the week following the extermination of the whole Sontaran Sidearms team in their match against the Skaro Rollers leaves the whole future of the GWS on a very shaky nail indeed. | ||
